Notre Dame gives up a bunch of explosive plays on defense and does not make many on offense.

A few other stats of note

- Notre Dame Red Zone TD % - 58.9% (#84)
- Alabama Red Zone D TD % - 50.0% (#14)

Considering that they are not very explosive and they are below average scoring TDs in the red zone (while we are pretty good at it)....that's a very bad recipe for beating us.

Looks like Notre Dame's offense is probably a bit better than people might be realizing

I'm curious, Can you compare ND and Clemson based on two games they played against each other. I'm curious to see their stats. Might give us an idea of what to expect.

I looked into it last night and I don't think it's really worth it for the work it would take.

These will have to do

It's solid, but not explosive. And it bogs down in the red zone.

All in all, probably a pretty good matchup for us.

In what way?

Notre Dame 47 - Clemson 40 (11-7)

Clemson 34 - Notre Dame 10 (12-19)

looked like Clemson sort of did the mush rush to contain the ND QB. We should be good at that. The ND qb did the Jalen Hurts thing vs Clemson, rolled right and threw it into the stands.

So what went wrong for them on defense when comparing them versus UNC and versus Clemson x2? The former was arguably the best performance against an elite offense all year

Not sure - don't really know enough about UNC, but since it is Longo's scheme I think it is almost all RPO. And I remember that Howell looked confused, a lot like Tua did against UGA in the SECCG. My guess is they messed with his reads and made him hold the ball too long.

Nobody here will get this reference but... Are you saying the scores form a Martingale?

I’ve watched a few of their games but hard to judge talent w ACC schedule.

ND QB has some Manziel qualities with his evasiveness. Keeps the play alive which worries me w our secondary. Large targets on the outside with a stud TE (he gets the name Baby Gronk for a reason). RB is hard runner and gritty.

Defense is much improved from previous years, can get pressure with front 4 but can be beaten over the top.

Their Offense is really the only worry here.

I assume havoc rate on offense is preventing TFL, sacks, fumbles, and interceptions?

Surprised to see our explosiveness on offense is “only” 16. Although since Waddle’s injury we really haven’t gone over the top nearly as much. I suppose too maybe a lot of teams are playing back to avoid giving up big plays, allowing us to move the chains easily with our #1 success rate?

Explosiveness is a weird one, because part of it is basically something along the lines of % more than your average play or something......and our average play is so high it almost seems to downgrade us.

For instance, our standard stats of "plays over 20 yards" and stuff is Top 5 in the country.
