Yes he had a decent showing against GA State. Well that's really the only game that it was reported that Coach Saban said they wouldn't call designed runs for Blake, but plays that we'd run if AJ went down. Saban praised his efforts in practices and scrimmages leading up to A-Day and the entire playbook was not utilized. Also go back and actually look at A-Day and you'll see a ton of drops. Coker looks the part and we all know he can sling it, but honestly I don't care if our QB was recruited as a kicker, if he's the best option then let him play. Lastly none of our QBs have any experience of note so patience will be needed regardless.

especially at the beginning, which likely hindered him from developing a good rhythm.

great point. people want immediate results, and are likely going to jump off a bridge if there is any struggle the first few games.

Does Kiffin have any experience with a dual-threat QB?

If Sims will end up being the guy, I just hope we can adequately take advantage of his skillset. He brings one something to the table that we haven't had during Saban's tenure....a running QB.

I think offensive line is a much bigger problem than quarterback. The three returning players didn't exactly dominate last year, and we are playing a true freshman at left tackle. Cam could develop into a great player, but it will take some time. Plus, whoever ends up starting at RG will likely be somewhat of a downgrade from Steen. It just seems pretty questionable that the line will be improved at all from last year.

i agree with that. but im optimistic about the OL. hopefully they can improve. i think OL is one position where experience makes the greatest difference. I've seen a lot of bama OL who have become fine players in their senior campaigns after never making a splash before. Danny Martz and Drew Davis are two that immediately come to mind.

With the potential OL issues, at least Sims could tuck it and run instead of chunking it into the third row.

Yeah, he actually will take a little bit of pressure off of the Oline with his mobility.

I think people don't really remember how much the 2011 line struggled early on, and how many sacks they have up. They needed to gel and by the end of the year they were one of the best ever. We have really good players on the ol, hope they can get on the same page with each other

You have to think this has been his focus, at least a big part of it, since Kiffin has been hired. It was the only sure thing on the roster for a while

true. I think that Cyrus and Arie were too big of a liability side by side last year to overcome a lot of times. They just couldnt get things going.

I think the offensive line actually has a chance to excel early on. We don't face an elite pass rush until Florida and also our line should be really good at run blocking. This should allow us to really take some pressure off of the QB with the elite RBs we have. We are definitely going to take our shots but early on I'm hoping we are 60/40 running which is our strength.

He'd better chunk it into the third row if he can't run.

No offense to you, but if you believe sims is 6'0 tall I have some great beach front property in Oklahoma for sale. He may be 5'10...dude is short.

I think I recall him being visibly shorter than Eddie Lacy, who is 5'11"

don't act like that its ridiculous for me to believe when EVERY profile of him has him at 6 foot.

Looking at BS's recruiting pic with CNS and comparing it to a pic I have with CNS, I feel confident in saying BS is between 5'11 and 6'

It's funny that so few bama fans want to believe Sims is good.

Everyone is saying that Coker couldn't beat out Sims so we are fricked at QB. I haven't seen anyone say Sims beat out Coker and give him credit for working his arse off and taking the reigns. Most of y'all now believe Jimbo was blowing smoke and that Coker sucks cause he couldn't beat sims. Maybe Coker is good and Sims is good too; why does nobody consider that?

One more thing: didn't Kiffin take Jonathan Crompton and make him serviceable? Crompton was one of the worst QBs I've ever seen in the SEC before Kiffin got there. Am I just imagining that? (I've done some hard living since then and my memory ain't perfect)

Battle still going on.

Sims hasn't beat out Coker.

Nope, we believe Coker is still uncomfortable and that is the reason he hasn't pulled away. Doesn't mean Sims isn't good, but no one can deny that Coker is a far superior talent.

We all hope Sims has improved, but the fact is the goal is always NC or bust. If you can't make the vertical throws, you're not gonna beat a team like FSU.

This crap has become ridiculous. Sims is 5"10' and shorter than Eddie Lacy? Geez. Sims was recruited to play safety. Since when has Saban recruited safeties under 6 feet. Ridiculous, asinine posting going on here.

I really think a number of you would like Sims to play and fail, maybe even would like us to lose a game in the process, just so you can say you were right. I bet you guys would prefer that to Sims leading us to a championship. Haters gonna hate, I guess.
