I hope you end up being right dude. Just seems like a really strange year so far.

We are just getting worked on the recruiting trail this year. I know we are supposed to have a good shot at a bunch of guys moving forward, but even coming off a national title we seem to have no recruiting momentum at all.

We have pressing need at DE and are offering three stars in December.
I think this is what is most concerning to me. With the number of players we are likely to lose along the defensive line, I would have thought we would be doing a lot better at that position. Really feels like we've lost a ton of recruiting momentum at the moment.

his is so dumb it is hard to respond. He is a top 5 QB. I will give you the pressure Cam brings to a defense doesn't fit normal QB metrics.
That makes perfect sense. Cam is so incredible in the NFL that he can't be evaluated through passing statistics. Only the eye test can reveal that Cam is an elite NFL player. Of course, the eye test would have to ignore all those incomplete passes Newton throws. Watching an NFL qb who ranks 28th in completion percentage is actually pretty painful.

he's one of the best qbs in the league
Surely you don't actually think someone whose qb rating is essentially identical to Kirk Cousins is one of the best qbs in the NFL. He has a lot of talent, but he is not even close to being an elite NFL player at this point in the year. I think a more accurate statement would be that Cam is an NFL journeyman with some upside. Great college player though!

It seems like quite a few Auburn fans are upset about being perceived as lucky. I mean why start this thread otherwise?

Why does it bother Auburn fans that their team consistently benefits from fluke plays? A win is a win.

Why does discussing the obvious issues Bama has this year equate to being a fair weather fan? I don't see anyone saying that they are no longer going to support the team..

they are going to have more D in the box that our Oline can block.
People have been saying this a lot. I'm not sure I buy it though. Arkansas didn't seem to be regularly loading the box. The interior offensive line just got destroyed by a pretty average Arkansas front.

Maybe Arkansas is improved over the absolute train wreck they were last year. They are still a team that hasn't won a conference game in 2 years though. They are like 73rd in total defense and 30th in total offense. Doesn't seem like a very impressive opponent to me. End of the day, we looked really bad playing against a very mediocre opponent.

I agree on Saban only being a decent game day coach. I think the sneak was a good call though. Arkansas was like the 75th overall defense in yards allowed before playing us. You have to expect to be able to convert that.

I think we match up very favorably with Arky. Our defensive strength is clearly up front, and we've played the run extremely well this year. I don't really see Arkansas being able to run consistently enough to do much on offense.
Arkansas is not particularly good defensively. I think they are like 75 or something in total defense? We should be able to pretty much do whatever we want regardless of the new center.
This is more of a game like Florida. We are so much better than Arkansas that it doesn't matter if we make mistakes or not.
Alabama - 31 Arkansas - 13

re: Thoughts on Derrick Henry so far?

Our running backs have been a bit underwhelming since Lacy left. I'm not really sure how big a difference the offensive line makes in that assessment though. Richardson/Ingram/Lacy all unquestionably played behind better offensive lines. Henry has been solid so far, but he definitely hasn't lived up to the hype he had coming into the season. He doesn't get downhill as much as you'd expect someone of his size, and he doesn't seem to have much burst into the second level. Really sucks Drake is hurt and never got many carries before that. He seemed to be the best pure runner we had both in 2013 and this season.

so how should losses "come"?
They shouldn't come from playing scared/choking away games. It just feels like we are missing a spark.

I agree the throw hung in the air, and Blake led OJ back toward the safety. Still, it wasn't much of an effort. OJ seems like a really good athlete who is still a work in progress as a player. That's a play you'd like to see your 5 star tight end make.

I don't think expectations are the problem. We are going to lose games. I think the issue is with how these losses are coming. We seem to have a pattern of playing poorly in close games. For the past year or so the team plays consistently tight. Guys don't seem to be having fun, and we have 0 swagger. It's not like that's even paying off in terms of not making mistakes. This year in particular is the sloppiest we've looked in years. Florida wasn't really any better in terms of not making mistakes. They just sucked too much to take advantage of all the penalties and turnovers.

It wasn't the best throw ever. OJ was hardly left out to dry though. The ball hit him in the hands despite the fact that he made no real effort to make a play in the air.
re: Question..What WR leads the nation in receiving yards after Week 2?

I don't think anyone seriously thought that Yeldon is better than Gurley. When they both are healthy, Gurley is pretty obviously the better player.
re: i think blake is our guy

I'm honestly surprised this is still being talked about after actually watching Coker play. He obviously has more physical ability than Blake Sims. Just as obviously, he isn't ready to be the starter. Sure we should continue to try to develop Coker, but Blake Sims is certainly the best option right now.

Were people this critical of GMac in 2009? Blake looked at least that good to me. I think he way exceeded expectations and people should be much more positive about his performance. The problems with this team lie on the defensive side of the ball.
