So true. Some people would argue regardless. The season can't get here fast enough. Hopefully we can get back on topic.

This thread has turned into the message board equivalent of a training camp fight. Season needs to hurry up so we can take it out one others.

Cochran incorporates Crossfit style workouts into their routines IIRC, which is very cardio intensive. Were the players worn out by the pace of play? Duh, it has nothing to do with conditioning and everything to do with the types of interior linemen we recruit. We will be just fine. Y'all need to chill.

I'm not sure about strength gains or anything like that, but it does seem like we have guys chronically injured/playing through injuries more than other programs. NFL people have commented on our players being pretty beat up coming out. I'm not sure if that's on Cochran or not, but it at least seems to be an issue.

Yep, got out here last Friday and have been moving into my apartment since then. I start work in the morning. It's been so nice out here!
I'll never get tired of seeing Mt Hood.

quote:I'm sorry, but what the actual frick. Crossfit is one of the best ways to pick up a stupid injury that I can think of. The idea is to get as many reps out as quickly as possible before moving on to the next exercise, but unless you are extremely disciplined (which forgive me if I doubt all college athletes are the most disciplined), you will sacrifice form and by extension safety to do that. Putting the unnecessary stress on the body that many Crossfit plans cause is dumb. It is not a safe workout system if you are lifting high amounts of weight.

Not really.
There is no scientific evidence to support the thought that Crossfit leads to a higher amount of injuries than football, baseball, or any other sport. It's simply a means to an end: to enhance functional fitness. Yes, there are complicated movement performed at high rates of speed, but contrary to popular belief most gyms (and trainers) will not give the athlete more weight than they are capable of safely moving at that intensity level.
Crossfit is not a bad thing. Some of the idiotic trainers and athletes are. Cochran is not one of those idiots.

Its good to mix up your work outs. I'm sure his plan has injury safety in mind, therefore carefully structured for each player. And is a good mixup with just power work outs and weights.

I'm sure they use some high pace intervals that may be similar to what they do in Crossfit but it's nothing like the routine would see in a Crossfit gym.
Wait nvm, just saw this gif of Coker on twitter. We're screwed

So away from all this dumb shite I've read for about 40 of 48 pages, how many more scrimmages do we have left?

Damn. Really? Or just none we know about lol

No more. Essentially you could say that fall camp is over and now they're just doing preseason practice. I don't know when game prep starts. I think next week, not this week, but I could be wrong. I can never remember.

Tpically they wll spend Tuesday cleaning up things learned from Saturday. Wednesday and Thursday are to tie up loose ends and settle on who the front line players will be. After that it is time to focus in on getting ready for game week to start.

Good. Hbu? I always disappear during the offseason because it's shitty on the rant and annoys me. I see I came too early because it is really bad everywhere I go. This whole coker sucks, bama's fricked shite needs to quit. It happens every year and it takes bama whipping a decent opponents arse by 30-40 to shut people up. Bring on Florida for Christ sakes. WVu won't get bama much respect.

1. Most of the people who injure themselves doing Crossfit are the people trying to do more weight than they can handle. If you're struggling to clean 225 for 3 reps, you should probably drop down to at least 185 before you try to bust out 30 reps. Common sense.
2. At UA it doesn't matter if the players are disciplined or not. They lift the weight the coaches allow them to lift. It's not like they're all throwing on plates and taking them off freely without supervision. Those coaches track and record everything.
