Braves listened to you about Gosselin and traded for 5 thousand year old AAA 2nd Baseman Robinson Cano .

1.5 games out.
We'll see if old man Cano got something left in the tank.
Battle of Max's tomorrow night.

Braves just traded Drew Waters and two others to Kansas City for the 35th pick in this years draft.

Not much of a surprise.
Along with Harris, Water's was at one time the top flight rising prospect in the organization.
However, been some speed bumps since his promotion to Triple A Gwinnett a couple years back.

The only one that kinda hurts is Hoffman. He may be really good before it's all said and done. Waters and Alexander are both blocked for the foreseeable future. I think Waters will end up being a 4a guy and Alexander is already 26.

You gotta wonder who the Braves are targeting. I would assume it would be a way overslot guy. Maybe Kumar Rocker?

I'd like Kumar getting a shot with the Braves.
His numbers look Kumar like in the Independent League.

Doubtful. The Braves rarely deal with Boras guys.

Was facing a hall of famer that had his + + shite. Still was in it right to the end. That breeze in left field saved his arse twice.

That's baseball.

Scherzer is great but that was a frustrating way to open such a huge series at home.

The fricked up part is that we hit him harder than they hit Fried, but all of ours were right at someone or fell 3 feet short of the wall. The Mets have been the kings of stringing together walks, HBPs they lean into, and weak singles all year.

Buck Showalter has been good for the Mets.
They don't hit a lot of home runs but they make contact, don't strike out a lot.
Hopefully we'll take care of business tonight. Get more hits with our hard hit balls.

Good baseball game tonight.
Two 2 run homers.
Minter settling in nicely in the temporary closer role.
Back to 1.5 out.
Day game tomorrow.

Austin Riley deservedly selected to the All Star Game.
That's 6 Atlanta Braves on the roster.
As I key this, Riley just crushed another 1.
9 HR's this month for the big fella.

I believe we've got the best overall 3rd baseman in the game who's a candidate for MVP along with Dansby. Braves are right where they need to be for the 2nd half run. It'll be interesting to see who AA brings in during the trade deadline. And it'll help getting Albies & Soroka back. Hopefully Kirby Yates can help the pen to.

Pretty happy with the first half after the rough start. It would be nice to get a win today and sweep the Nats.

Riley has better numbers than Arenado or Machado... that's all that needs to be said.

How do we afford to keep Fried, Riley, and Swanson ? Who goes if any ?

Will Smith can not be allowed to take up a roster spot simply because he makes a lot of money. Trade his arse now for any draft pick someone will give for him and move on. Those antics the other night were embarrassing for the club with him pulling his pants down and having a nervous breakdown on the mound with a fricking 7 run lead. Dude is pure garbage.

Are we hoping to land Prielipp or Hughes ?

Unfortunately now we see why intelligent LA fans were happy to see Kenley Jansen go. He has somehow lost movement on that cutter so he's throwing 94mph batting practice whenever he manages to throw a strike. He pitches to contact so he's likely to never have a clean inning in the playoffs- anyone excited about living through that ?

It's been nice to see Matt Olson get going. He still has too much launch angle on his swing IMO, but funny how I have no Fs to give as long as he's producing.

Arcia seems to always impact a game positively either with his glove or bat. I'd have a tough time sitting him. Not sure what his splits are, but I assume he must be struggling vs RHP since they want to platoon him.

It's apparent to all of us that in order to have a great chance to win it all AA should trade for an elite closer. If he can't I believe we're going to see late inning heartbreak in the playoffs.

Yeah, that will smith miracle run through the playoffs last year that saw half a dozen balls fall harmlessly for outs with the outfielders back flush with the wall is NEVER happening again. I doubt any team with a derp closer will successfully navigate an entire post season like that ever again. That was a miracle.

Jansen is out there giving the ump attitude after every other pitch, and relying on a cutter that doesn't cut. Ive absolutely had it with our 9th inning guy being a washed up has been that can't miss a bat. We have to have someone that can get 3 outs on the farm- how about Kyle Muller ? I think Muller would be a triple digit guy for 20 pitches.
