According to ESPN's Jeff Darlington, the New Orleans Saints were a serious contender in the Tom Brady sweepstakes that went down before he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers...
quote:

"I have to take you back to a time when Tom Brady had decided that he was leaving the New England Patriots, and the Tampa Bay Bucs were absolutely at the top of his list," Darlington said, via BucsGameday. "But so too were another team, and that was the New Orleans Saints coached by Sean Payton. I don't think people give it credit enough how close Tom Brady was to playing with Sean Payton in New Orleans."

"Had Drew Brees ended up as the 'Monday Night Football' analyst at our network, Tom Brady would have ended up with the Saints... At one point, Brees walked into Sean Payton's office and said, 'I'm done, I'm retired.' So, it was so close to Tom Brady ending up with the Saints and Sean Payton."

When you turn on your grandfathers proud legacy, and apologize to the lebrons, kamaras, and jenkins, your life must really suck, and you're pitiful twat

When you’re so fake you tape a rapists name to your helmet to appease hyper offended radicals that cried about making an innocuous comment stating you support this country you deserve it.

I think Brees caught wind of Brady's plan then decided to keep playing out of jealousy - Brees didn't want Brady to be the Saints Super Bowl Hero. Brees wanted to own that Title all by himself. Selfish Brees.

Thank you, Drew Brees! Everybody knows that at that time Brady was Washed Up and Done! Of course, he got better after that and won another Super Bowl. I think that Seven Rings, right? Anyway, One SB ring is enough. Saints fans didn't want any part of Tom Brady and his high-falutin' prideful SB-winning ways. WE ARE MORE HUMBLE THAN THAT!

Would be a no factor if Jared Cook didn't fumble. Saints was on there way to blowing out the Bucs until that play.

Could you imagine how pissed Payton was seeing Brees jello arm not complete 15 yard passes knowing he could have had Brady.

We would have won it all in 2020. It would have been a rocky road at first but it would have ended glorious.

That would've been nice. Tom wouldn't have worn a helmet with a rapists name on it. Drew is a big time cuck

So the entire rest of the team would have done it, at the direction of Payton, but Tom alone wouldn't have? Good to know.

Brees knew and stuck around to stop it from happening. I don’t blame him but in hindsight, that last year damaged the frick out of his legacy that he was trying to protect.

Brees played well until Cooks fumbled the ball. I don’t blame him w the anthem stuff. The media and cucks like Malcolm Henkins were trying to destroy him and he wanted to play one last year w his teammates.

Brady and Payton would have been a scary combination. Glad he went to my Bucs.
