I don't get it. I thought there was going to be something epic. It was a good routine, but it looked like lots of floor routines these days. Dance moves in between tumble runs have become incredibly commonplace. I was waiting for whatever was supposed to make this stand out but never saw it. Good routine. Nothing new. Nothing "epic".

I'm sorry. I clicked on the link expecting to see something really spectacular (Given that it was described as an "Epic Routine" - nice clickbait Larry). But speaking strictly from a gymnastics perspective, the performance was good. Not Great. And certainly NOT Epic. Seen better right here at LSU. You are right...this shouldn't be about race. But ask yourselves this...if this same routine was done by a white gymnast, would this even be news?? I don't think so. UCLA made this about #blackexcellence that's why it's being talked about.

Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve never gone a day in my life obsessing over my skin color or sexual orientation. I’m continually baffled by individuals who let those things determine so much of who they are.

These are some bizarre and unexpected reactions to this post. Can't it just be a cool performance without it having anything to do with race?

UCLA made it about race in their post, that’s the point. We are reacting to it.

I'll be glad when an athlete's performance does not require a racial identification.

"blackexcellence" is either an arrogant, racist statement or a suggestion that "black excellence" is less excellent than the excellence of other races (which is also a racist statement).

I wonder if using the phrase white excellence would be well received?

White excellence is what gets people pregnant.

They lost me with the racist Black Excellence trash. Next white gymnastics they should go with white excellence

Three good, clean tumbling runs, and some hip hop in between. What's the big deal for or against?

Why can't it just be excellence? It's a fricking racist post if it's 'white excellence' . F the OP

She is majoring in Sociology. She wants to be a Physical Therapist. Maybe UCLA will hire her.

Am I the only one not impressed with her routine? Seemed average at best. What was her score?

I was expecting to be blown away, but it wasn't impressive at all. It was a dance routine with a couple gymnastics moves thrown in.

What’s with the backup dancers? Is it an individual event? Why not have costumes and props? So stupid
