Urban Meyer Is Leaning Towards Passing On The Texas Job
Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports
According to 247Sports, Urban Meyer has indicated to Texas officials that he is leaning toward not coaching again due to health reasons. The Longhorns have been spending time, with head coach Tom Herman still employed, trying to pursue Meyer to take the gig...

Donors would step up for Meyer. It’s unclear if donors would be willing to do the same for anyone else, sources said.

The wildcard in the equation would be if Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte could come up with a coach who would galvanize the support of donors and regents for such a steep buyout.

Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian, Oregon coach Mario Cristobal, Penn State coach James Franklin and Iowa State coach Matt Campbell are among the coaches Texas has researched, according to sources

"...leaning toward not coaching again due to health reasons." You can read that as him not liking that current opportunity or the money. If a better situation offered itself or more money did, his "health" would be good - like always.

Nah...there's nothing there to not like.

Health reason: it's the health of his bank account. He wanted $15 million a year for a six-year contract with automatic 25% bonus with a national title and a $5 million increase per year after winning a national title if Texas wanted him to come out of "retirement".

Listen, if you don't know you're worth, no one else will. If you think he's not worth that, don't hire him. But as a businessman. I can tell you I'd pay him more than that. And reap the instant financial windfall. The increase in apparel sales alone will more than cover that.

Why would you want to coach at a place that publicizes the coaching overture to a new coach while the old coach is still in place?

The way Texas is doing this is hilarious. So fricked up if it were any coach other than Herman.

Actually it's kind of karma for him talking to LSU while Miles was still the coach.

Has anyone bothered to fire Herman or are they just pretending he isn't there?

Maybe he’ll just go away if they don’t pay any attention to him

don't be naive. Schools do this all the time, and given that the head football coach presides over a massive program and revenue source for the university, there's really nothing wrong with it.
