Greenville seems a lot safer.

Wrong.

Greenville's crime rate is higher than the state's average. Charleston is much lower, and lower than the state's average.

lol I guarantee you the most violent crime in the state is north Charleston near I-26 as you get close to downtown Charleston.

all the crime in Greenville is over on the west side of the metro. I never been over there. all the growth is on the eastside heading out toward Simpsonville and out in Powdersville which is west down 85.

Those crime stats are per capita and most likely using Greenville city limits population which is only like 55000 people. Per capita crime stats are bogus and you always see smaller cities have more per capita crime than large cites. For example, one year Aiken SC had higher per capita murders than NYC. Aiken only had 9-10 murders in year, while NYC haad thousands of murders. Yet the per capita stas indicated Aiken is more dangerous.

Clemson has a lot more nature stuff in a drivable range than other cities. You are imposing this artificial constraint. You say there is nothing to do in Clemson as though Clemson is a prison that students cannot live. the upstate is a collection of smaller cities along with the mother ship Greenville. The whole upstate is our home.

Clemson is a quaint town in the foothills.

I don't have a problem in college driving to go to a mall or restaurant every now and thing, or go to the mountains, whitewater rafting etc. No city has everything right in the city.

There is stuff to do in Clemson. A nice golf course is right there. A lake is right there. A nice gym called Fike is right there with basketball, racquetball courts, weight machines, indoor pool, etc. You can go play frisbe golf on campus, etc. There is a bowling alley on campus and a movie theatre .

No reason to compare the two. UGA isn't bad.

That arch annoys me. I would like to rent a tank and ride over the arch. It reminds me of this sculpture of a waterfall in downtown Greenville, just pointless. An arch is supposed to be for structural support.

I have heard there aren't any good restaurants in Athens. It is nothing but bars.

Fowler on ESPN said UGA has too many frat kids in flannel. lol

the main drag through Athens adjacent to the campus is rough looking. that is why I think it looks more urban than you would expect for college town well off the interstate.

the roads look like crap in the downtown area too.

Also, the UGA arch is a replica of the state seal. History. Learn it.

Holdup. Is this lint licker really trying to knock Athens fricking Georgia when he represents a town that has one street and can hardly put buildings on either side of the it? Jesus this has to be a fricking joke.

Clemson is a quaint village nestled in the foothills next to a lake.

A Dawg said that I was scared to talk about Athens/UGA. I'm talking about it now so what's the problem. I took the challenge.

in my opinion Athens has too much stuff downtown so you don't get the real college town vibe when there are only so many options.

it is cool. I would post a picture if I knew how and I knew what the rules are as far as hotlinking. I tried to post one last night from flickr and it would post the link but not the image.

How does a UCLA student/grad know about Tigertown? I'm skeptical you ever been

You are right about Athens. It's ugly and weird and there's no where to eat.

Just pass right on by down 85 all the way to ATL. Don't stop here, nothing to see. There's another gas station further on down, you can make it.

Have a nice day.

You boast about how cities ought to have more "cafes" bc you're too lazy to wait for fine dining, yet you know Athens bc you "heard" it had no good restaurants. How many award winning restaurants does little ole quaint Clemson by a lake have? Athens has several.
