Report: LSU's Last-Tear Poa Files Lawsuit Against U.S. Immigration Over NIL Restrictions

LSU women's basketball guard Last-Tear Poa has reportedly filed a lawsuit against US Citizenship and Immigration Services after she was denied a visa that would help her get NIL deals. Per The Advocate:

On3 reported Wednesday that Poa filed the lawsuit in the Middle District of Louisiana because she was denied a P-1A visa, a document that would remove barriers preventing her from profiting off her name, image and likeness. Current US immigration policy limits the number of employment opportunities that international students can pursue.

Poa, a senior guard, grew up in Melbourne, Australia. She's beginning her third season at LSU and her fifth playing college basketball in the US.

Last year, Poa appeared in 36 games, primarily filling a reserve ballhandling role for LSU. She averaged 4.9 points and 3.0 assists per game and drew 31 charges.

Poa was absent from both of LSU's exhibition games. After the Tigers beat Xavier of New Orleans, coach Kim Mulkey said she did not play because she was "taking care of business off the floor."

While it seems obvious that she should have the opportunity others do, she has taken a spot from an American citizen to be at lsu and play basketball. That should be enough, or at least might should. She isn’t a citizen and isn’t afforded the same rights. I think the frustration is that those that illegally do it profit so much more, and there is huge injustice in that.

Tear up your existing visa, go to Mexico then stroll across the border. They will welcome you, give you a new phone, give you a handful of VIsa gift cards and fly you back to BR. I have no problem with her filing a lawsuit. If it is a valid one, she will be successful, get the visa, and can profit like everyone else on the team….and LSU gets to keep a good player.
