Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry weighed in Wednesday on the ongoing eligibility battle involving LSU, the SEC, and former professional players attempting to return to college sports.

Landry defended the players and criticized the SEC's handling of the situation, saying the conference is now "creating a legal mess" after athletes were previously told they had exhausted their college eligibility.

"This whole thing is ridiculous. Don't hate the player, hate the game," Landry told Front Office Sports.

Landry needs to keep his nose out of LSU athletics and worry about why he was elected Governor. Running our state

Stankey is a low IQ loser. He created this mess and in the end, just might get kicked to the curb down the road. This is now an official CLUSTER FRICK! See you in court STANK!!!

A player that wasn’t drafted and didn’t sign a contract and didn’t go to training camp is ineligible according to Stankey and that’s another dimension that moron is fricking up on. YET there are 23 other former pro athletes from other leagues bigger than the CBA and WNBA playing in the SEC.. go figure that shite out

100% agree with this.

The only reason they declared is they were told they did not have a 5th year. The legal arguments are going to be very entertaining.

His comments seem reasonable.

Think it's pretty safe to say that if players that declared eligible for the draft, are drafted, and then want to go back to play at college level......that it wouldn't fix a damn thing. Only 1% can compete in the NFL. Sorry if you're a 5%er.....

This is just part of the issue he also banned players that didn’t do those things…
