Yahoo Sports is the latest outlet to release Way-Too-Early Rankings for 2026, with LSU coming in at No. 6 on this list.

According to senior writer Nick Bromberg, the expectations for Lane Kiffin will be high in his first year at LSU, and he expects the Tigers to be in the college football playoffs.
quote:

6. LSU
Lane Kiffin got his quarterback in former Arizona State signal-caller Sam Leavitt. He also added former five-star recruit Husan Longstreet from USC. LSU was one of the biggest underachievers in 2025. This is a roster that can make the College Football Playoff. And, given the way Kiffin left Ole Miss, anything less than making the CFP semifinals can be considered a disappointment.

3. Indiana

they really expect Indiana to continue their success huh? with Mendoza, Cooper, and Surratt moving on, that's a lot of production to replace... guess we'll see

This seems about right. Love seeing Alabama below us and out of the top 10.

Clemson not even mentioned in the top 25. Dabos seat is starting to cook.

Realistically these players are all coming into a new system they have to learn. Yes, on paper they look like one helluva team to contend with. Lots of unrealistic people in the media too. LSU will need luck avoiding injuries to key players and offensive line play is the key to how far they can go.

Not to mention the difficulty of a 9- game conference schedule.

They have us at 6, but say anything less than semi’s is a disappointment. Their math doesn’t add up. They are the dissapoint Larry!

NIKE ad money forces positive coverage. Oregon will be the first 3 loss and 4 loss team one day to make playoffs. The commentators and pollsters all answer to Phil Knight.
