Yahoo Sports unveiled their first NFL Mock Draft and have LSU's offensive tackle Will Campbell going No. 1 overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Here's what Nate Tice had to say about the pick:
quote:

1. Jacksonville Jaguars — LSU OT Will Campbell
“Campbell is a technician on the left side who constantly stays balanced and in a winning position. His upright stance looks funky, but he’s a good athlete with light feet who can move in space and has the core strength to bring pop in the run game. Campbell is a consistent and smart player for a franchise desperately needing some of that.”
The mock draft also has quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, offensive tackle Emery Jones, and linebacker Harold Perkins selected in the first round.

Perkins recently suffered a season-ending ACL injury vs. UCLA two weeks ago:
quote:

10. New York Giants — Garrett Nussmeier, QB, LSU
Surprise? Get used to seeing this name in mock drafts. Nussmeier has been one of the best quarterbacks in the country and has operated the LSU offense with extreme ease and efficiency. He could be the next face of the Giants if he keeps up this pace.

15. Chicago Bears — Emery Jones, OT, LSU
This is about injecting more talent into the offensive line and since there are no real center candidates that make sense in this spot, the Bears go with Will Campbell’s LSU tacklemate. Jones can get out of position at times, but he has the size and length to stay out at tackle. With the Bears, he could create a powerful right side of the offensive line with Darnell Wright.

30. Tampa Bay Buccaneers — Harold Perkins, LB/Edge, LSU
Perkins is the wild card of the draft. He has extreme production at times throughout his career, but is currently out for the season with a torn ACL and playing somewhat of an undefined position as far as projecting to the NFL goes. He didn’t have a whole lot of traditional linebacker responsibilities and is smaller than most NFL edge rushers — so we will just give him to Todd Bowles and let him figure it out. The Buccaneers aren’t a stranger to tweener types in the front seven with guys like Calijah Kancey and YaYa Diaby. Perkins could be another weapon for this defense.

Can’t agree with Perkins pick. He was great when his surroundings were strong (his fresh year).

Perkins injury may hurt his draft stock a little, if he has a complex injury. But, we have been too critical of his play. Not many of us realize that every offense that he has gone against, since his freshman year, has had to prepare their offensive attack to account for where he was positioned on defense. The opponents offensive players have had to hear Harold Perkins’ name all week leading up to the games. Double teeming Perkins has been common. That speaks volume to the NFL.

No way Perkins goes in first round. He's got talent, but he's been horrible the past two seasons and he's a tweener. Not bashing him, but the facts are the facts!

Truth. If he was that good, TX would have bought him

CBS has Campbell going 4th to Titans, Jones going 6th to Jags, and Nuss going 10th to Raiders.

The NFL talent evaluators see things at an elite level. They grade players with specifics, tangibles and intangibles that most of us are not familiar with. How often do we casual observers look at how a player moves his hips, during a game. NEVER! They look at hip movement. A first round grade is a first round grade. Burrow did not have first round arm strength. He had first round accuracy, determination and leader ship.
In summation he graded as a first pick. Nuss has first round arm strength and accuracy. These guys are consensus first rounders.

If Perkins can't do it in college, he's definitely not doing it in the NFL!

LSU lists Perkins as 6'1" 225, they listed Hunter as 6'6" 240. There may be a bit of a difference. Perk's sack numbers are a lot better than Hunters were at LSU, though. Perk's problem is he is a tweener.

Nuss will be a better NFL player than college player.
Dude has the goods.

This guy has an LSU bias because I don't think Nuss or Perkins is a first round grade. Emery I don't know enough about OL to make a guess.

Only Will Campbell is a 1st rd pick imo.

Perkins will be lucky if he is taken midway in the 2nd.

I have Perkins sliding to late 2nd round now because of the injury and his play leading up to the injury. Dont be shocked if he returns and has a great season catapulting himself into a top 15 pick.

We will never see Perkins play in an LSU uniform again.

I hate to agree, but Perkins LSU career is most likely over at this point.

Watch enough college football and you realize Nuss has several tools most other QBs don't.

Smh. Campbell and Jones are so high because NFL teams love their pass blocking. They can teach them better run block technique. Pass blocking is very difficult. Nuss has the best arm in CFB. He can make every throw and is mobile
