In case you missed it, former LSU star and current Arizona Cardinals defensive back Tyrann Mathieu came up with a huge red-zone interception against the Chicago Bears over the weekend and returned it past mid-field.

i have watched LSU football for 40 years. i am sure there is people who go further back than me. But judging from the eyeball test, he is the best player i've ever seen an LSU uniform. feel free to disagree if you want!

I love defensive football. Mathieu turned defensive play into an offensive threat. His ability on special teams only enhances that effect. The 3 best "football" players I watched play college ball in person are Derrick Thomas, Kevin Faulk and Tyrann Mathieu - and I think Mathieu is the best. The most explosive and disruptive defensive back in CFB history, again, IMHO.

I suspect P. Peterson had a lot to do with him cleaning up his act for the NFL. I hated to see him leave LSU, but maybe it was good for him in the long run. He's definitely got it all together now!

My favorite play of his is when he got that deep ball endzone pick against Fla while covering that tall receiver like white on rice!

I told my buddy in Livonia to watch #7 Mathieu his freshman year. He said: Who? The rest is history! We laugh about it now, as Tyrann became one of the best ever! Love the way he waits on his blockers when returning interceptions. Very patient. He's looking to score every time! The mark of a winner. Hope he stays healthy cause he's always been one of my favorite players to watch! My wife agrees! Only wish the Saints would have snagged him. They had the chance and passed. Again!
