Multiple sources are reporting that LSU's defensive coordinator Dave Aranda has emerged as the front-runner for the UNLV head coaching job and that a deal could be done relatively soon.
Aranda is currently in his fourth season as LSU's defensive coordinator and signed a 4-year, 2.5 million dollar contract in 2017. His current deal makes him the highest-paid assistant coach in College Football.
The 43-year old coach from Redlands, Calif. came to LSU after serving as the defensive coordinator at Wisconsin from 2013–2015.
During last year's Fiesta Bowl press conference, he made it clear that becoming a head coach was a goal he wanted to achieve.
Stay tuned for developments.
