Poll: Are You In Favor Of LSU Adding Players With NFL Experience To The Roster?

LSU's push to add players with NFL experience to its roster will come to a head on Thursday. That is when a court hearing is set in Baton Rouge, where the SEC and commissioner Greg Sankey will challenge a temporary restraining order (TRO) that is currently preventing the conference from enforcing its new rule against players who have signed professional contracts.

The timing is important for LSU. The Tigers have until Friday to finalize their 105-man roster, one day before they open the season against Clemson.

Former Ole Miss tight end Dae'Quan Wright, who spent this summer in NFL training camps with the Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns but never made a regular-season roster, has practiced with LSU over the past week.

None of the players are NFL players! They did not get drafted they tried out for a team but did not make 53 man roster!! The NCAA dropped the ball on them in the 5 for 5. These players should have been given the option to play the 5th year eligibility or choose nfl. If they did that we wouldn’t be having the discussion

It really doesn’t matter….either everyone gets to do it or no one gets to do it so there is no competitive advantage. Seems like an unnecessary distraction at this point.

This year should be the only exception, as the eligibility rules were changed after these players went to the draft. They would have stayed had they known they would have another year.

It is lost on me how badly LSU is framing up this issue. We should be saying clearly and loudly "these kids did not play in the NFL they pursued it only." There is large difference between pursuing
and achieving.

Hell when I was young I pursued Pamela Anderson or thought about it...

The media has blown this all out of proportion. It's not those 22 kids' fault that the dysfunctional NCAA couldn't get their shite together and announce that these kids had a 5th year BEFORE the NFL contract deadline. But the media doesn't say anything about that nor about this being only about the class of 22. That's why I cannot stand the media these days. #fakenews

If the court allows it, then yes. This whole mess was created by the NCAA with repeated ambiguous decisions about player’s eligibility. These players, who did not make an NFL roster, are no more professional players than the NIL millionaires playing college football today. Let’s face it, college football is now a minor league for the NFL. It’s now become ‘Who can pay for the best team’. Pathetic.

So a young man, who has been getting paid to play, goes to a football camp with other young men who are just as good or much better to learn from guys who are or have been NFL Coaches. Am I describing an NFL or SEC football camp?

I'm not in favor of adding NFL players that are actually on a 53 man NFL roster.
But, I am ok with adding the 5th year players that never made a roster or practice squad. Just because you tried out for an NFL team does not make you an NFL player, IMO. Thousands do this and never suit up on Sundays. But , no, Burrow and Jefferson don't get to come back. However , Wright does because he is in BR right now and not on a 53 man roster. Calling Wright an NFL player is a stretch. He's really not that good and is only a depth piece for the Tigers, maybe 3rd team.

The SEC is acting like this is still amateur sports and these players aren't all being paid. Out of all of the legal rulings that have destroyed college football over the past 5 years, this is the one that they finally decide to take a stand on?

There are no more amateurs, so what’s the fricking difference? Both NFL & CFB players get money to play, signed a contract to get paid and hired agents to handle their business. NFL has a CBA, that’s the real difference, but it doesn’t make student athletes any less of a pro.

Yes! If Texas and others can do it then yes. Only under this year 5 for 5 rule. No reason we shouldn't when Chambliss is Ineligible under the 5 for 5 with his 6th year. All these teams doing it so we should be able to do it also.

Let's only allow amateurs to play and we can all gather on Saturdays to watch the marching band, or are they being paid to play too?
