Poll: Are You In Favor Of LSU Adding Players With NFL Experience To The Roster?

LSU's push to add players with NFL experience to its roster will come to a head on Thursday. That is when a court hearing is set in Baton Rouge, where the SEC and commissioner Greg Sankey will challenge a temporary restraining order (TRO) that is currently preventing the conference from enforcing its new rule against players who have signed professional contracts.

The timing is important for LSU. The Tigers have until Friday to finalize their 105-man roster, one day before they open the season against Clemson.

Former Ole Miss tight end Dae'Quan Wright, who spent this summer in NFL training camps with the Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns but never made a regular-season roster, has practiced with LSU over the past week.

This is the right answer. I don’t think players who have signed with NFL teams should be able to return to college.

But if they are able, they should come to LSU.

This is the key to me.
The question worded to say “with NFL experience” HARDLY describes the two players we are trying to sign on.

You need to reword the question. Participating in an NFL training camp doesn't mean you have NFL experience. It's nothing more than a tryout.

I like some others did not like the wording of the ?. IMO, the proper question should have been..."Are you in favor of LSU adding players from the 2022 class due to them not being informed about their options related to 5 for 5?" NFL experience implies including veteran players.

Updating my resume…. I never knew I was an ex MLB player with MLB experience. Did a tryout with the Detroit Tigers back in 1990.

They don't know the playbook or the team, they won't contribute for months, and it's their final year of eligibility. It's simply not worth the risk.

That depends on the case right? A tight end like Wright would know kiffin and Weiss playbook, and an end like Pyburn would know bakers playbook, to an extent.

I'm not in favor of adding NFL players that are actually on a 53 man NFL roster.
But, I am ok with adding the 5th year players that never made a roster or practice squad. Just because you tried out for an NFL team does not make you an NFL player, IMO. Thousands do this and never suit up on Sundays. But , no, Burrow and Jefferson don't get to come back. However , Wright does because he is in BR right now and not on a 53 man roster. Calling Wright an NFL player is a stretch. He's really not that good and is only a depth piece for the Tigers, maybe 3rd team.

Yes! If Texas and others can do it then yes. Only under this year 5 for 5 rule. No reason we shouldn't when Chambliss is Ineligible under the 5 for 5 with his 6th year. All these teams doing it so we should be able to do it also.

I am in favor of consistency in the rules that LSU is not singularly lambasted for doing just the same as other schools, and for an exception to be made for the class of '22, and fpr a consistent rule to be applied thereafter but not just because mean old LSU did it.

None of the players are NFL players! They did not get drafted they tried out for a team but did not make 53 man roster!! The NCAA dropped the ball on them in the 5 for 5. These players should have been given the option to play the 5th year eligibility or choose nfl. If they did that we wouldn’t be having the discussion

It really doesn’t matter….either everyone gets to do it or no one gets to do it so there is no competitive advantage. Seems like an unnecessary distraction at this point.

This year should be the only exception, as the eligibility rules were changed after these players went to the draft. They would have stayed had they known they would have another year.

It is lost on me how badly LSU is framing up this issue. We should be saying clearly and loudly "these kids did not play in the NFL they pursued it only." There is large difference between pursuing
and achieving.

Hell when I was young I pursued Pamela Anderson or thought about it...

The media has blown this all out of proportion. It's not those 22 kids' fault that the dysfunctional NCAA couldn't get their shite together and announce that these kids had a 5th year BEFORE the NFL contract deadline. But the media doesn't say anything about that nor about this being only about the class of 22. That's why I cannot stand the media these days. #fakenews

If the court allows it, then yes. This whole mess was created by the NCAA with repeated ambiguous decisions about player’s eligibility. These players, who did not make an NFL roster, are no more professional players than the NIL millionaires playing college football today. Let’s face it, college football is now a minor league for the NFL. It’s now become ‘Who can pay for the best team’. Pathetic.
