Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney had some peculiar grading of LSU's 17-10 win over the Tigers last Saturday while addressing the media on Tuesday.
quote:

"It was a hell of a game, down to the last play," Swinney said in his weekly news conference. "Right out of the gate. It's like getting the final exam [on] Day 1 of class. They made a 65; we made a 58. Neither one of us were great."
Later in the day, head coach Brian Kelly pushed back on Dabo's grading:
quote:

"I thought we dominated them in the second half, so he's really a really good grader for giving himself a 58, or he's a really hard grader on us," Kelly said.

"Or he didn't see the second half, which, that might be the case. He might not have wanted to see the second half."
Kelly is not the only one who disagrees with Dabo's comments, as Fox Sports College Football reporter Bruce Feldman chimed in with a grade of "A+" for LSU:

How would you personally grade LSU's performance in the opener? Leave a comment down below.

Dabo and the entire Clemson staff are soft as Charmin's toilet paper for snitching on AJ Haulsy and making that boy miss the first half of that game for something he did last year at Houston. Never liked Dabo, I think he's fake as f u c k.

B+ only due to 2 fumbles and missed FG

If the rolls were reversed, and Kelly said it, I would be pissed and see it as an excuse.

If Kelly had said it, he would have been crucified by the press and fans.

Dabo’s team got their asses handed to them in the 2nd half . If not for sone bad calls like the TD , and the holding on the punt return , and no call for grounding the ball to avoid a sack . The score could’ve been a lot worse .

He's saying "A-plus" not "A-."

As a child, his older brother called him “that boy”. In mobile home dialect it sounded like Dabo and stuck with him.

I agree. Definitely don't think he's a bad guy. I DO think, however, that he is getting anxious about ever being relevant again. In the past, the way to have success was to set up 'the process' like Saban and Dabo did. Then the rug got pulled out from under them with COVID and NIL. The venerable PROCESS no longer works and thus far, Dabo has failed to adapt.

Dabo became relevant because Clemson did not play in the SEC. The powder puff league schedule of the ACC enabled Dabo to avoid injuries and present a more rested team in the playoffs. That gig is up. No wonder he looks lost shaking Nuss's hand.

Dabo is the ULTIMATE snake oil salesman.

He beat Saban and Bama for the National Championship twice and lost one in a very close game.

My only concern is that Clemson is not as good as everyone said before the game. That's how bad LSU Defense made Clemson Offense look. LSU offense did not open up with a lot of down field pass plays. I think that is coming.

Clemson will be fine. They are good.. alot of returning starters from their playoff team last year. Lsu is just stacked.

First game of the season on the road in a hostile environment with an all-new offensive line going up against what is supposed to be the nation's top defensive front I am more than okay with not a lot of downfield pass plays.

Miami and Florida State will have a lot to say about what goes on in the ACC this year! Dabo and Clemson maybe in third place and out of the CFP!

To be fair, 65 is probably better than anything Dabo got in school, so it’s actually high praise

We played a great game and the OL played much better than expected. I'm wondering how good is Clemson really? We will find out how good we are a couple of weeks.

2 fumbles lost isn't an "A plus performance" in my opinion. I give the Defense an A+

C'mon, Staff Reporter. Feldman gave us an A+, not an A-. The little horizontal dash after the "A" in the Feldman quote was used there as a hyphen, not as a minus sign. His full grade was an "A-plus," which the same as typing "A+."
