LSU safety Ryan Yaites has reportedly entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.

The former four-star recruit from Denton, Texas native, played in all 13 games as a true freshman in 2023 and recorded 16 tackles. He played 242 snaps (124 defense, 118 special teams).

Yaites is the fourth LSU player to hit the portal this spring, along with edge rusher Jaxon Howard, wide receiver Khai Prean, and tight end Connor Gilbreath.

Good luck to him. He was actually one of the standout guys last fall camp on a defense that was really bad.

This one is kinda surprising. He was one of the few bright spots I thought.

Hate to see this one. He looked like he had some potential based on the PT he got last season.

I'm surprised at this one. Guess the transfers buried him in the depth chart. Life a competition kids, sometimes you have to get better.

The portal is living up to it's name.....like a black hole.

Dang if he didn't start was very high quality depth. Can probably start at several other SEC schools.

It sucks because he would have 100^ been in rotation this year, however he might not have started in 2025 with Jackson and McBryde and Toviano and Rogers.
