Former LSU defensive end Danielle Hunter has agreed to a one-year $35.6 million contract extension with the Houston Texans, according to Tom Pelissero. Per ESPN:

Last March, Hunter agreed to a two-year, $49 million deal with Houston as a free agent. The Texans have added $35.6 million to the back end of that original deal after his Pro Bowl debut with the team.

Hunter will get a $12 million raise in 2025, bumping his 2025 salary to $32 million. And in 2026, he'll earn the remainder of the extension.

Houston ranked fifth in the NFL in sacks (49) this past season and was led by Hunter, who was tied for fifth in sacks (12) while recording a pressure rate of 23.9%, second most among players with at least 200 pass-rush snaps, according to Next Gen Stats.
Hunter was a two-year starter at LSU from 2012 to 2014 and was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the 3rd round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He played eight seasons with the Vikings and signed with the Texans last March.

According to Sportrac, Hunter has totaled $124,364,477 in career earnings through 2025.

That pocket of Katy is in that area between 99 and Fry Rd North of I10. So it's not like Cinco Ranch or Fulshear. If been out there you would know.

It's comparison shopping; it's not Alief. The Morton Ranch area was where my first house in Houston was. Now they're selling for $300k+.

He's been the most consistent sack artist since he's entered the league. Only 3 years has he had less than double digit sacks. One was rookie year 6 sacks in 14 games with 1 start, 7 sacks in 16 games started one year, and 6 sacks in 7 games played and started in 1 year. He's a sack master.

Monster of an NFL career. I've always wondered why we never hear from him or see him rep LSU at all. It's pretty impressive how low key he is.
