During his post-practice press conference on Thursday night, Brian Kelly was asked several questions about LSU's offense and what changes he expects to see coming off the bye week.

Kelly made it evident that the offense needs to start faster, be more consistent in the run game, and push the ball downfield vertically in the passing game.

Here's everything he had to say about the offense:
quote:

"I think I made it pretty clear, we have to be more consistent offensively," Kelly explained. "We have to be more productive from an offensive standpoint."

"It’s been on and off.. This needs to be much more consistent. Will it be on Saturday? I hope so. I expect that we’re going to continue to progress offensively and be much more consistent for four quarters."

"I think we need to start faster. We need a much more explosive start."

"Here is an offense that is complete: You know you’ve gotta have the ability to run the ball when the numbers are fair. You’ve gotta get the ball out on the perimeter when the numbers aren’t fair. And then you also have to push the ball vertically."

"Those are all the components that we need to have within our offense. Sometimes we have it really good on one end, and not on the other. We’ve gotta bring all those components, and one of them is the vertical passing."

He still made some very poor decisions but it seemed obvious he was banged up

First and goal from the 1 yard line after Green's catch....then we run 3 consecutive run plays for negative yards. It was almost like they were playing a mean joke on the fans. Hard to believe we are that F stupid when it comes to play calling. We have a 6'7" wide receiver who has an insane vertical. How about maybe lining him up 1:1 on the long side of the field and throwing a simple fade route? WTF were we thinking?

"We have to start faster" is meaningless. Actually more inane than "We have to play better."

What's the OL making? If they're making $1M each...we can turn the Outrage Meter way up. If they're making minimum wage...well then...you get what you pay for.

O-line can't get a push against 3 in the box. It's fricking madness.

So it took him 2 weeks to figure what's going on with this offense

Translation: We need to have better pre-snap reads. We need to block better. We need to tune the ball better. We need to pass the ball better.
Is there anything he said that's more insightful than this?

I'm going to be at this game. Win lose or draw I'm gonna go to work Monday, pay bills and live. All the whiney " tiger fans" on here, don't watch the game, it's that simple.

"We have to be more consistent and productive." No joke? How you gonna accomplish that coach?
"We'll need to be consistent for 4 quarters." Why haven't you thought of that before? LOL In what ways are YOU personally coaching consistency in the players?
"We need to start faster." Ok, what's the plan for starting faster? What are YOU going to do to make sure our guys "start faster"?
Bro talks like he's at 100,000 feet or he's some yogi on a mountaintop where he can speak in generalizations and it's up to the people under him to actually make it work.
