LSU head coach Brian Kelly revealed on his radio show Thursday night that edge rusher Gabe Reliford is out for the season with a torn rotator cuff and will have surgery.

Reliford suffered the injury during last week's game against Southeastern Louisiana.

Reliford, a 6-3, 265-pound sophomore from Shreveport, La., played in 13 games last season with one start and has played in every game this season.

He was rotating in at edge rusher this season, with Jack Pyburn, Patrick Payton,
Jimari Butler, and others.

Brian Kelly said Monday that Dylan Carpenter, CJ Jackson, Damien Shanklin, and Kolaj Cobbins could see increased playing time due to Reliford's injury.

Really sucks because he had a great offseason, and everyone in the program predicted he was going break out this year and become a big contributor.

With the current rules they don't even need pads anymore. 10 years from now they'll be playing in speedos

Me either. Every game, there were awkward shots where I was happy I had every pad on my body.

I've had that surgery, and it sucks. He'll be good to go in about 6 months and come back motivated, pissed off and ready to wreck shop. Happy healing, my dude!

What a damn shame, he was gonna be a menace this year.

I just watched God, Family, Football that he was in. It's about the 2022 season at Evangel in Shreveport. It's okay.
