Just earlier this week it was reported that New Orleans five-star quarterback Arch Manning was narrowing his list of top schools to Texas and Alabama.

Manning's father, Cooper, recently spoke with 247Sports to refute that report and added LSU and Florida in the mix for his son's recruitment.
quote:

A recent report that 2023's No. 1 recruit Arch Manning is down to two schools is not true, his father Cooper told 247Sports on Wednesday.

In fact, because of regime changes at a few SEC schools, you can add two more programs to the mix for the five-star quarterback: Florida and nearby LSU.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Manning still has a keen eye on Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss and Texas, schools he visited during the summer and returned for games during the fall. It's a good bet that those four plus the twosome of LSU and Florida will get Manning on campus in the spring or summer.
Many around LSU have always thought Manning would be heading to college outside of Louisiana but the new coaching staff in Baton Rouge with Brian Kelly and company could make things interesting as his senior season heats up next fall.

Saban playing mind games again, don’t fall for it BK. Focus on recruiting reasonable targets

Just trying to keep the locals happy, which ultimately keeps pressure off of him.

Arch Manning isn't playing mind games. I just think that BK and Polian have done a really good job here.

I wonder if Arche genuinely loves LSU but feels family pressure to go elsewhere?

Serious question because what I have seen of him, he does not look all that impressive... good, but not great... Is he all that he is hyped up to be? Or has he been given the 5* love because of his last name?

I'm sure a lot of it has to do with potential as well. All Mannings that played in college went on to NFL careers so statistically he should be good. No pressure on him lol

His numbers are pretty ordinary outside of his freshman year. All the write ups on him keep using the word potential.

Stupid response. He’s a take all day long, especially considering the other top La recruit will be an Aggie

Alabama? Just when you thought the hate (not real hate, sports hate) of that family couldn't get any worse.

We’re the program that produced Joe Burreaux. We should be high on any quarterback’s list.

Joe produced himself. We got lucky.

It doesn’t matter that they’re gone. LSU is bigger than any coach.
