LSU landed a commitment from Copiah-Lincoln JUCO offensive lineman JaKolby Jones on Thursday night. Per 247Sports:
quote:

Jones appeared in 19 games while at Copiah-Lincoln Community College over the last two seasons. At 6-foot-4, 285 pounds, Jones will come in and compete for a spot in what will be a wide open offensive line room under new coach Eric Wolford.

Jones is the second offensive lineman to commit to LSU out of the transfer portal, along with Ja'Quan Sprinkle.

I have to admit that these transfers are a bit underwhelming.

Louisiana players are more likely to play with Louisiana pride. Their signatures are on all of our Championships.

285 lb JUCO is not depth, it’s desperation.

"Scraping the bottom of the Barrel" OL desperation. SOS.
Disappointed in Wolford-Cregg acquisitions so far. OL shiteshow 2.0 incoming.

I disagree. Not all of these 'takes' are going to make it, but it wouldn't surprise me if a couple of them put on good weight and with their athletic abilities, were able to rise to great heights. Coaching is paramount here, and LSU has had virtually none with overweight players. Give me long, athletic TE or basketball players, and you have the making of an excellent OT. LSU has had virtually no atheleticism in the OLine for years, and it appears that CLK is thinking he can develop some of these larger athletes to excellency. I like his approach.

Played HS ball at Many, LA and was offered by Illinois a couple of months ago.

Wow, we’re competing with Illinois now? This is embarrassing!

If Bielema wanted him that’s a good thing. His Offensive lines are usually pretty good.

I trust this OL talent evaluation over the prior offensive staff.

Juco to SEC, we must already be out of NIL money. There is a good possibility that we are a very bad team in 2026

When I read how much LSU was giving LK for NIL, I was expecting 4 and 5 star players from Power Four teams. Unless these pickups are backups, due to the numbers of players we’ve lost, this has been an extremely disappointing off season so far. I’m giving Lane the benefit of the doubt in that it’s not over, but for the love of all things LSU, PLEASE START SPENDING MONEY!!
