Class of 2018 kicker/punter Avery Atkins from Auburn High School in Auburn, AL announced Monday night that he has committed to LSU as a preferred walk-on.

Atkins made his decision shortly after his visit to LSU this past weekend. He chose the Tigers over Michigan, Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, and others.

You have to like the way O identifies a weakness and goes after it to get it fixed asap, transfers, then JUCOs, now preferred walk on at a spot that will be the difference in 2-3 games almost every year. I like that alot, much more of a sense of urgency

Hope he works out, that way we don't have to use a slot for 1 like we did this year.

After last year I’m glad to see 3 new kickers coming in. Kicking game will win or lose you the sec title.
