Four-star defensive end JaReylan McCoy from Tupelo, Miss., announced his de-commitment from LSU on Monday morning.

The 6’7, 245-pound lineman from Tupelo High School announced his commitment to LSU in January at the Under Armour All-American Game, picking the Tigers over Ole Miss, Tennessee, USC, Alabama, and others.

McCoy is rated the No. 12 defensive lineman in the country and the No. 6 player from Mississippi, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

His de-commitment leaves LSU with five verbal pledges for the class of 2026.

What's the point of taking commitments these days?

Don’t care one bit.
It’s all nonsense.

Look folks don’t get all bent about this. Just remember that about 90% of players that announce their commitment to LSU end up coming to LSU. Unfortunately the other 10 get these big press releases and that is what everyone remembers is the decommits. I really wish they would quit announcing them. Quit giving them the exposure. Make them do their own advertising
And remember, this is someone’s 16 year old child y’all are talking about. Remember how mature you were at 16 and all the great decisions you made.

Yet again, this serves as another reminder to hold off on the celebrations until these kids officially sign on the dotted line.

All that signing does is lock them into their true freshman season in which they are not likely to see much of the field. There’s no celebrating recruiting anymore

One month to the day. Why even commit at any point. Just wait for the highest dollar to come in at the last moment

I mean, thats what I'd do if I was a player in this day and age. Especially if I was from the typically impoverished demographic. 10k is fantasy money much less 100k

I enjoy clicking links like this to read the comments. Amazing how adults can melt down about the decisions of 17 and 18 year old kids. It's not that serious, go hug your family and have a great day!

You guys are so cruel. It doesn't mention another school. Maybe he realized he wasn't true college material and decided to follow his daddy down at the Jiffy Lube.
