During his radio show on Tuesday night, LSU head coach Jay Johnson discussed the Tigers' recent struggles, including their current four-game losing streak.

The Tigers were swept by Arkansas over the weekend and dropped Monday night's game to Southern, a loss that kept Johnson late at Alex Box Stadium searching for answers.

Johnson revealed Tuesday that he will enforce a 'no-cell phone' rule for the players around Alex Box until things improve.

Cell phones aren't the problem with the Tigers.. under-performance is.. but the pitching coach also has issues, too predictable on pitch calls.. you can't tell me they're taking batting practice while using their phones..

You’re right we can’t tell you that, but Jay can tell you it’s obviously an issue by his actions. Distractions are always an issue with baseball, and most sports. Eliminate the distractions is the only way to focus on what’s important. Will it help? Don’t know, but It can’t hurt.

Putting a rule in like this is a good way to identify and isolate the toxic individuals. They will most likely reveal themselves and confirm suspicions.

Cell phones can be poison especially with young people

It helps to develop soft hands. Back in the day, we used ping pong paddles to field the ball. Using a paddle or cell phone forces the player to field correctly using proper stance, technique and hands position while also making fielder “look the ball in to the glove”.

Heck, using the cell phone will create really soft hand, maybe too soft. Maybe that is why JJ said, "Fuhgedaboutit."

Spot On move coach. If you are in a corporate meeting with the boss leading the meeting, bet your sweet arse you will not be on your cell or tablet. Focus Focus Focus or bail!

I really don’t care what time Johnson left after the game. Whatever he is doing there isn’t working.

And he nor anyone else care what you care about. The man just brought home a title for us in two years and had a major rebuilding effort all 3 years. His first year is still the most impressive coaching performance I’ve seen since Skip. Last year was almost expected but we still fought through some major injuries that could have derailed any other team even with the stars we had. You can’t win with just a few stars, you need a team. I think this team is currently a little HR ball heavy and not enough contact guys who can do both like Crews was. This team is young but we need more natural athletes on this team. The 6’0-6’3 185-205 lb guys. We really only need like 1 or two guys like Jones and Trevenski. Either that or those guys need to adjust their at bats. Start hitting balls in gaps and not reaching for huge swings. Those guys will naturally hit the ball out without trying so stop trying. I think we are just a little too heavy at this time. Need more athletes to round it out. We could have beaten Arkansas with a little more offense in two of those games. Even with the terrible calls at the plate. Something else I think that needs to be addressed in college baseball. Let a computer call balls and strikes. Let umpires call bases and outs. Humans calling balls and strikes at 98MPH is just not working anymore. Take the bias and the home field advantage out of it with balls and strikes. Its just the right thing to do and we have to technology in place to do it.
