Terrifying scene at a youth baseball game in South Carolina on Monday night when a flurry of gunshots erupted near the field, sending kids running in fear...

The incident -- which happened at around 8:44 p.m. at a local park in North Charleston -- was captured on video ... showing as kids were playing in a game, dozens of gunshots rang out from a nearby parking lot.

According to the North Charleston Police Department, witnesses said the gunfire happened shortly after a large group of teenagers got into a fistfight in the area. Cops say the teens opened fire on each other following the physical altercation, but fled the area before officers arrived.

Police say three cars were hit by bullets during the incident ... but somehow, no one was injured.

It's a serious situation, but the batter's parents need to teach him how to react better. When you see everyone dropping to the ground and crawling away, you need to do similar not jog fully upright. Glad none of the kids got hurt.

Had this happen at a little league football game this past year. Shots fired in the stadium on opening day. Players had to lay down on the field. My son was 20 yards from the two guys firing at each other. Absolutely crazy that they will start firing shots anywhere, at anytime nowadays.

A bunch of fricking animals I swear!!! What if one of those kids was struck and killed by a stray bullet!!! I mean wtf is going on in this world where you need to kill another person over a fist fight? I was in plenty of fights arse a kid and I got my arse kicked more than once.
