After one season as the head coach of the Florida Gators women’s soccer team, Tony Amato is out. In his statement, Florida athletic director Steve Stricklin cited “challenges with relationship building and communication” as as well as a “disconnect” between Amato and the athletes he was in charge of...
quote:

“My thorough evaluation of the soccer program is that there is a disconnect between Tony and his athletes,” Stricklin said, via WUFT.org. “We have worked diligently with Tony since last fall when I first became aware of challenges with relationship building and communication. As the issues continued to be brought to my attention, it became apparent that sufficient progress was not being made and Tony was not a fit for the University of Florida.”

Probably not the whole story but a coach monitoring the nutrition of his players seems reasonable

I'm sure this is the whole story. This is the victim mentality that the left is cultivating in all university settings. So, having a strict nutritional plan for athletes is body shaming. Wow. Smh. Can't wait to see these fatties play.

Imagine the nerve of him to expect athletes to be in shape.

I don't have a clue exactly what this guy said, and he may be a jerk, but also maybe he just wanted his players in better shape.

Now where is the outrage when coaches do this for male athletes?

Gonna be a common thread in women sports as time goes on. Society/culture is going to outpace some of the traditional/unpleasant coaching techniques we all grew up with.

And, that will be society’s loss. Just think about how much we gained by being challenged, rising to meet that challenge, overcoming adversity, etc… Without all of that in my past, I never could have overcome what I did and become what I am today.

So, I guess that Billy Napier doesn’t monitor the diets, work our routines and tell Florida football players if they are out of shape?
