Florida head coach Dan Mullen spoke at the Tampa Gator Club this week and commented on the recent off-the-field issues involving the football program, saying that he is "very disappointing" in his players that are being accused of violence against women.

Mullen, however, did not mention anything about dismissing any players from the program. Per The Orlando Sentinel:
quote:

"Obviously, anybody that knows me [knows] I like to take an extremely strong stance on that," Mullen said Wednesday before addressing the Tampa Gator Club. "I don't see anything acceptable about that, any violence against women, whether it's a violent act or a wrongful sexual act toward women.

"But I also like to have all the information before making final decisions."

Mullen said stopping short of a zero-tolerance policy with members of his program who are accused of such acts has led to some positive results.

I hate Florida, but Mullen is right here. Props to him for standing on principle with an unpopular opinion. Fact is, there must be checks and balances. If a scorned woman can ruin the life of a man with a baseless accusation with no merit, the system is deeply flawed. There are two sides to every story. That said, I abhor violence against women as much as anyone, and donate to battered women’s shelters. But not all women who allege domestic abuse are telling the truth, particularly when custody and/or jealousy are involved. Remember in America, we’re supposed to be presumed innocent until proven otherwise. Those who rush to judgment do a disservice to the women who are legitimately abused.

All he’d have to say is “ I’d like all information from the university before I answer that.” He’s free and clear.

Florida's "of the field" problems. Yes, everyone already knew this entire organization was too in love with the grass.
