Former Auburn running back Peyton Barber told reporters on Wednesday that his decision to leave school early and declare for the NFL Draft was spurred by the fact that his mother is currently homeless.

Here is some of what Barber had to says about his mom's situation while speaking at the NFL Combine, per ESPN:
quote:

"My mother is homeless right now," Barber said. "Right now, she's staying with her sister. It's her and her three kids staying in an apartment back home."

"She really just asks me if I'm OK and how I'm doing," he said. "She never pressured me to do anything. I just decided to do what's best for me and my family."
The Alpharetta, GA native rushed for 1,017 yards and 13 touchdowns as a redshirt sophomore last season.

@lsu480 Technically she is not homeless, but she obviously lost wherever she was living in at first and has to crash at her sister's place. Don't know what kind of relationship you guys have with your mamas, but speaking from the perspective of a black guy, just about all of us are mama's boys to an extent. That's why you see so many guys get their moms a car or house or both after they make it big.

Since when is this considered homeless? "My mother is homeless right now," Barber said. "Right now, she's staying with her sister. It's her and her three kids staying in an apartment back home."

How high is he supposed to be drafted? Sounds nice as long as he actually is drafted.

"other than cousin leeroy" maybe his NFL RB cousin Marion would suffice.

He can come back and get degree at any time for free now. This will be a new thing for players on the cusp of possibly getting drafted either junior or senior years. Go out ealry, see if you can get a FA pickup, possibly late round, if not practice squad and degree the next year

I understand him trying to help but if he doesn't get drafted then he has royally screwed himself.

No he hasn't. He can just return to Auburn and get his degree......on Auburn's dime.
