re: Who is CNNs Dana Oneill and why is she so butthurt about LSU?!?

I mean, she's not wrong. We have one of the most entertaining lineup of coaches in the country. We've become must-see TV at this point

Think of it this way....you're about to have one of the best entrees in your life, but the dessert is going to leave a lot to be desired and you'll finish a bad taste in your mouth. That said, the meal as a whole will be worth it and savor every bite of that entree.
I think our fans were a lot worse in the 90s when we were in the dark ages and lightened up once we started to win championships again.
I've seen a couple of bad apples, but I also think we invite way more visiting fans into tailgates than any other school.
I've gone to games in Tiger Stadium with Bama, Ole Miss and Auburn fans over the years. They got heckled some, but it was all just fun banter like "Tiger Bait" and I've gotten much worse on several SEC campuses. My Auburn family/friends actually got free drinks all night after they lost in 2017 from random strangers at bars.

re: Why do people support LSU when Baton Rouge is such a nasty place?

Also, even though this is an obvious troll attempt, LSU receives double the amount of applications (60k to 30k) compared to Arkansas, with 82 percent of those coming from out-of-state and actually wins national championships in major sports (see baseball last year :pimp:).
I grew up out of state and toured 15 schools (many of them in the SEC) and chose LSU.
LSU had one of the nicest campuses of any I visited and some of the areas around campus (LSU lakes and Highland Rd south of campus) were as nice if not nicer than any other areas of the towns I visited.
North BR is awful and some pockets around campus are too (past north gate and back of Tigerland/Gardere), but overall South BR/St. George is pretty nice and I enjoyed living there minus the traffic. I've lived in TN, FL, GA and LA now and the culture/people in LA blow the other three states out of the water.

re: What will be the Bama-Clemson of the NIL/ 12 team playoff era?
Posted by ATLTiger7 on 1/21/26 at 12:53 pm to The Tiger322
Oregon, Texas, LSU, Texas Tech, A&M, Miami and Ohio St. are all set to do well in the new NIL era. I don't see UGA going anywhere either so some combination of those teams will probably be in the mix most years.
re: For those of you who live or have lived in Chicago, what's so great about it?

I had never been until a few years back and now I go almost annually since it has become my favorite city in the U.S. (during the warmer months).
I had a preconceived perception of an old rust-belt, crime ridden city and while that certainly applies for certain areas in the south side, the main city hub and northern areas are amazing. It gives a cleaner, nicer NYC vibe with Miami mixed in with all the lakefront options.
Completely blew me away the first time I visited and I love River North, Old Town, Lincoln Park, Gold Coast, Wrigleyville, etc.
It has so many cool neighborhoods with different vibes and the city really shines in the summer/fall months.
If I could live there from May-Halloween and then live in the South during the winter months/early spring, I'd do that in a heartbeat.

Very well coached team. The bigger question is how did it take Cignetti this long to become such a dominant force and how was he under the radar until his 60s?

If we're being honest about Alabama...outside of luckily having the two best coaches to ever coach the game on their sideline, their football program is about on par with LSU, UGA and Tennessee historically.
re: The great Joel Klatt didnt even mention BK as option for Michigan
Posted by ATLTiger7 on 12/12/25 at 12:40 pm to SirWinston
I don't have Michigan "sauces," but was at a Michigan game a couple of years ago and was at a reception with several UM higher-ups. I mentioned LSU and Michigan had never played and got a response they'd never consider playing the Tigers so long as Brian Kelly was there. It came across that there's some bad blood from when he was at Notre Dame, but I didn't pry for more info. Everything I've seen that last two days is backing that assumption up.

The fighting tigers of LSU were lucky not to have to play Tulane this year.
Sure. All five of our losses were to teams who finished in the top-15, including four CFP teams. We shared one common opponent, where we lost to Ole Miss by 5 and Tulane lost by 35. Tulane wouldn't even make a bowl game with our schedule, let alone the CFP.

So cheer on your big time college team. But just recognize that it is no different than any other professional team. Such college teams bring little educational value to their home state.
It's a great marketing tool. I had zero ties to LSU/Louisiana, but guess what drew me into wanting to tour LSU?
I'm dating a Reb, but graduated from LSU so have gotten to experience both a good bit.
Oxford definitely has a way better bar scene and a cool small town charm or vibe to it, but I honestly liked LSU's campus better (more unique Italian Renaissance architecture and the live oaks everywhere vs. a more standard southern campus).
There's also a lot more to do in Baton Rouge, but on the flip side, its larger size also brings more issues as well. North BR is rough, but South BR (especially St. George) outside of a couple of bad pockets is actually pretty nice overall and has some really nice neighborhoods off of the campus lakes and down Highland. I never went to the bad parts of town and never experienced much of those elements associated with it. Oxford definitely feels "safer" and more like a college town, but I think I would've gotten bored after a couple years since I grew up in a larger city.
I haven't gotten the full culinary experience at Oxford yet, but BR is hard to beat in that department. Overall, each place has its different perks and both a really cool schools to attend college. The amount of talent you see walking around on game days at both is unreal.

All those recruits at the same time?Something happened.
Logically, could it stem from all the smoke that blew up in the last 48 hours around Baker being a favorite for the Tulane job and they want to see who the new DC would be if that happens?

I’ve been surprised at how scared Georgia fans are of lsu hiring kiffin
Three of UGA's worst losses in recent history came from either LSU or Kiffin (LSU-2018, LSU-2019, Ole Miss- 2024).
Now that they've combined forces, it makes some sense I guess.

This is the problem with the playoffs. Tulane would have a .500 record playing in the SEC. Hell, Vandy is a better team.
Tulane might not win more than 1-2 games in the SEC.
They've been outscored 78-18 in their last two games against SEC teams. On the flip side there's about 10 SEC teams who would be undefeated with Tulane's weak schedule outside of the Ole Miss game, maybe more.
Classy move.
This program could have completely fallen off the rails following Orgeron (see Auburn or Florida), but overall Kelly kept us in a decent place. It certainly didn't live up to expectations, but the roster is in a much better place now what what he inherited when he took over and I'm grateful for that.

one friend is a business partner of mine that went to ND and is a booster. He swears Freeman is gone at end of season.
Did he give a reason why he'd want to make a move? He seemed pretty content there to me.

One coached in the SEC, the other wasn't even at the FBS level.
First off, I don't see him leaving South Bend, but I actually think he'd do well here.
I know many on this board have PTSD from the previous Notre Dame hire, but he did just take them to the natty last year.
I actually got to go up to South Bend recently and see him interact with the team and we'd be lucky to get him. He's actually one of the most impressive coaches I've been around. It was also interesting to hear how much more people in the athletic department liked him over Kelly and how much the culture changed.
Like I said, I'll believe it when I see it and find this hard to believe, but I'm here for it if it somehow happens.

It's a high risk, high reward move. For every success story you mentioned, there's five who didn't work out in this same scenario.
quote:
If this logic justifies Morris getting a look, then why not Ryan Silverfield at Memphis? He's 29-6 over the last 3 seasons and, if the CFP started today, would have Memphis in. During that time he has wins over Arkansas, Florida St, and close losses to Mizzou and SMU. He's 45 and has multiple years experience in the NFL.
This. If we're going non-power four he's one of the ones I'd consider. Has a way better resume as a head coach than Morris.
