How different would college football look now had Tebow chosen Alabama over Florida?

Pretty wild to think about, but Tebow was a hair away from joining Alabama. If that happens, I think Shula keeps his job and the dominoes fall differently. Where does Saban wind up back then?
It's crazy to think about, but is there another player whose decision would have had such a major impact?

Was Bama as talented as Florida was? Did you guys have a lot of talent back then?

I think the best odds are him staying in the NFL in 2007. The only other prestigious job opening was at Miami, and I can’t see him just hopping across town.
If he had another down year in 2007 he could have looked to get back in 2008. Auburn had an opening that year.

Saban would have gone to Florida.

Dan Mullen had a ton to do with Tebow and the offense success. So who knows...but you def need a spread offense for Tebow.

I would imagine Shula still starts JPW and gets fired regardless, don’t know if freshman spot duty Tebow wins anymore of those games in 06 for Bama.
Saban comes to Bama still and now has Tebow to play with, goes back to back in 08-09

...but Frac makes an interesting point that I hadn't much considered. There's a good chance Shula would've kept Tebow on the bench and gotten fired anyway.
He is essentially a QB coach, so there's also a chance that he never lets Tebow actually play like Tebow.
Shula does deserve more credit for keeping the program together like he did given the circumstances, though.
He was also an unsung hero of the 1985 Iron Bowl.

Brandon Spikes and Percy Harvin said they were going where Tebow was. If all three ended up at Bama, even Shula couldn’t have screwed that up
