Since this is my first post on the Vandy board, I will mention I grew up an AU fan, but went to grad school at Vandy and my dad went there so I always cheer for the Dores unless they're playing AU.

What do people think about Franklin staying at Vandy? I recently argued he is one of the best HC prospects out there now. People have already started mentioning his name with other openings. I feel like he feels like he has something to prove. It's amazing what he has done in 2 years. I think he'll eventually leave, but not until he gets frustrated with the lack of fan support. And from what I've heard he and his family like Nashville. Thoughts?

I agree that he feels like he has something to prove. I think that he wants to create a legacy and be the one and only person to have the kind of success at Vanderbilt not seen since McGugin himself. People talk about needing pay or support, but he's paid like a top 15 coach, and David Williams has really opened the checkbook for facilities and other improvements. If he keeps bringing this kind of success, there will be fan support. The only way he leaves is if he has such big success that an actual top 15 program looks to poach him from us. That kind of program will need another year of success before gambling on him, I think.

From what I hear that's the only issue he has here in Nashville. He loves everything about the city and the school except the apathy the fan base shows. Now that of course was built over many years of bad football so you've got to think that doesn't surprise him either. We'll see. I hope he stays, he's good for the city, the school, and for the SEC.

Agreed. Just read an article where he is asking students to change their Thanksgiving plans and stick around for the game against Tennessee.

Many years of apathy haha try 6 decades. Fan support will get better with continued success that's just something CJF will hopefully just have to understand. Administration seems dedicated to doing what it takes to succeed at least ATP.

Just saw on Twitter where CJF was in the Vandy dining hall trying to get students to the game this weekend. One tweet said he was calling students' parents convincing them to let their kids stay the weekend for the game.

Coach Franklin on fan support:

I might actually take a bullhorn on a golf cart around campus to make sure everyone knows how important it is that they're here to support their team.

I would just love to be on campus to see him go around campus at 8 am Saturday waking everyone up.

I was curious about this, but does anyone know how much Franklin makes? Trying to gauge the offseason after he finishes 9-4 in year 2.

Between 2.5 - 3.5 million depending on incentives which I imagine he is close to hitting all of them. Vandy being a private school does not release any kind of salary info so its hard to gauge exactly the situation. However, looking at the salary structure of Corbin and Stallings and other VU coaches its very likely that the buyout is a VERY high number.

This I knew, which is why I was curious. I imagine he'll get a few upgrades to his deal.

Thoughts on the Arky rumors? I'm having none of them. Might be just because I refuse to think it's possible

I think (hope) he stays. All the energy and effort he's put in so far. I really think he has something to prove at Vandy. The school is accommodating him and making improvements. And I know I mentioned getting the fans to buy in. From everything I saw during the TN game, it looks like he has the fan support.

I can't remember if I posted about this before, but doesn't his family really like Nashville? Hard to see them leaving for Fayetteville.

Yes they do. A lot!! That being said I don't see him going to a place like Arky. That's not big enough of a jump for him to leave Vandy. I think for him to leave Nashville it'll have to be a premier school.

Are you implying he may head to Knoxville?

I don't think so, just providing emphasis. I also seriously doubt that UT would come after Franklin, though you never know...
