All the CFP first round bye teams lost last year

That's what I was thinking, but my memory is suspect so I wasn't sure. I realize it's a small sample size, but it's still 4/4 and enough to give anyone reason for pause. It will be interesting to watch how strong this trend becomes over the years because it WILL have an impact on the sport, especially the Conference Championship games if it continues. I don't see how it can't.

The ideal scenario is to miss the SECCG, get the 5 seed, and get a tuneup game against James Madison.

Bingo. That's what I was thinking.

Stupid to play that game.

I would opt out even if we make it.

Only hurts you.

Pretty good analysis here and UGA is central to their conversation.

Andy Staples and Ari bracket talk.

I don't think you can do that even if it was possible. It IS an honor to play in it and opting out is a weak look which is diametrically opposed to the mentality Kirby has expounded.

preeeetty sure you can't do that. If someone (kirby damn sure wouldn't be the first to try) attempted I suspect it would just go down as a loss/forfeit.

I’m all in. Never pass up an opportunity for a championship for these young men. Nothing is guaranteed.

Crazy to think we could win out, be 11-1 and ranked 4th or higher and miss playing in the SEC championship. We would probably end up getting a first round bye. But I don’t see A&M beating Texas so we will have a rematch with Bama in ATL unfortunately.

I thought there was a chance Texas could win that game after a&m almost to S.Car and then I watched them play Georgia. There is no chance in hell Texas wins that game.

Fallacy of the new system. They thought the divisions historically had weaker sides and it mostly did, but it still forced tteams to play a more balanced schedule. Tamu hasn't played anyone in the top 3 Rd to half of the league.....

Any time we get another bite at that crimson apple, I'm all for it.

If we played Bama in September with this current OL, we win easily.

Yes. Always.

And we are defending SEC Champs. I would like to be back-to-back SEC Champs.

I do. A&M is 3rd in the SEC in rushing ahead of us at #4. Their D is as good as if not better than ours. They are ahead of Texas in every statistical category by a shot. Texas simply cannot run the ball and A&M is gonna do the same thing to them we done, possibly worse.

17: if sony wasn't hurt and the refs are good we win
18: if deandre walker didn't get hurt and fields doesn't tard up the playcall we win
20: they were simply on another level
21: if kirby doens't 180 degree change our entire defensive philosophy before the game we win
23: if mims doesn't go down and brock/ladd were healthy we win
24: if beck doesn't throw so many picks and julian humphrey doesn't frick up we win
25: if talyn catches the ball or we get a chip block on the DE on 4th down we win

At some point our fans need to accept that the "We Want Bama!" mindset isn't really good for our program. Rationally, logically, etc...it really is in our best interest to not play them if we can help it.
