Best guess is that Hankton gets sent packing, Coley becomes WR coach / co-OC, and we bring in someone else to be QB coach / co-OC alongside Coley. There is no way you go back and watch film this year and feel good about Fromm's mechanics or what our WRs did. The amount of times Fromm threw fading away when there was no pressure at all was remarkable. The amount of drops and lack of progression by our WRs is also inexcusable.

Not a Coley fan, but he's been QB coach for a while. I think the mechanics breakdown has to be more on Jake. It looks like much of it was just him being antsy in the pocket and not trusting his line. He was pressing this season instead of letting it all come to him.

Significantly improved play from Jake shouldn't take anything revolutionary. Maybe it's a simple as him having a bad season.

Believe me I would. But my source is a lurker on this board and has fed me early and accurate stuff before. He’d cut me off if I divulged.

Kirby’s doin’ work.

Ya know what? I don’t need to know any frigging names. Just knowing it’s being taken care of is good enough. Kirby’s on the mutha, HBTFD!

I’ve seen a few people say “change is coming”. I hope they are correct, but I’m going to remain extremely skeptical until it actually happens.

Kirby has shown himself to be good at a lot of things, but offensive philosophy and OC hires have not been kind to him so far. Plus, he loves Coley, and I don’t think he will demote him or fire him, and if Coley is calling plays, I don’t think it matters how much help we bring in.

Not necessarily so. Kirby wants a NC and is hell bent on getting his first one. Pay attention in the next few weeks.

Kirby will demote Coley after the Sugar Bowl. If not be is not a championship coach. We can win it all next year with a competent offense.

I am hopeful but it is hard for me to believe that Kirby will change OC's after just 1 season with Coley as OC. Richt gave Bobo time to develop and I'm guessing Smart will do the same with Coley. I don't know if Coley is capable of becoming a championship level OC but there is plenty of templates for creative offense. You just have to teach your players and practice the plays until execution is like clockwork. But the key is a successful OC has to have a feel for the game to call winning plays at the right time.

difference is bobo was new to the profession and learned under richt before growing into the role and started calling plays on his own. Coley is not new and has been a playcaller at other stops before this one. He shouldnt' need to be developed, especially by a guy that is new as a HC with no background in offense.

I agree with you except for

HC with no background in offense.

He was our running backs coach for our 2005 SECC team.

Ha. I mean I was a summer lifeguard many many years ago but that doesn't mean I have a "background" in aquatic facility management.

Coley's been a disaster but he's received no criticism from Kirby. Kirby had no problem screaming at Jim Chaney if a couple of plays didn't work. I just don't know what to think.

You dont think Dell is in the offensive meetings? You dont think kirby was there in 2005?

The statement was "no background on offense". Not only is he factually wrong on that, but he downplays the role of a coach like Dell (or Kirby in 2005) who does have a voice in the room. It is a weird limb to hang himself on.
