Right now, here’s where he stands in every major receiving stat list for SEC tight ends:

Receiving yards:
1. Evan Engram (Miss) - 2,320
2. Ozzie Newsome (Bama) - 2,070
3. D.J. Williams (Ark) - 1,855
4. Brock Bowers (UGA) - 1,824

Receptions:
1. Evan Engram (Miss) - 162
2. D.J. Williams (Ark) - 152
3. Jacob Tamme (UK) - 133
4. Brock Bowers (UGA) - 119

Receiving TD’s:
1. Albert Okwuegbunam (Mizz) - 23
2. Brock Bowers (UGA) - 20

He needs the following statistical season to own all three records:

44 catches
497 yards
4 TD’s

Even if he doesn’t, he has one of the most impressive highlight reels I’ve ever seen from a tight end.

He’s taken a slant 70 yards to the house, an end around 75 yards, a wheel route 89 yards, a fortunate tipped catch (immaculate reception) 70 yards, and has Mossed multiple defenders for jump balls in the red zone.

That’s just off the top of my head, I’m sure there are many more big plays. Not to mention his blocking ability. He is a phenomenal player who just happens to be a tight end.

He also scooped a ball about an inch off the grass for a TD against Tech. The highlight reel is arguably the greatest by any receiver, TE or not, in league history.

I hope we’re still able to feed him at a decent clip with Darnell out. If Delp doesn’t step up, defenses will be able to key on Bowers in a way they haven’t been able to so far in his career.

Don’t know if it’ll matter a whole lot, but it’s worth paying attention to.

Meh. First of all, I believe in Delp, especially as admirably as he filled in against OSU. Now imagine that with another offseason of development both physically and mentally as well as serious talent at TE incoming to push him. Secondly, we also have serious talent out wide and in the backfield. If QB is at least above average, this offense should continue to be impressive.

Edited to add, and no one should be able to just continue keying on Brock without getting gashed because of it.

I was there for that one. Seats on the 30 on that end. Amazing catch.
