Feels like the boring up the middle runs eventually wears out other teams eventually because our defense keeps their offense off the field. Last night that didn’t work. Kentucky had very long drives and it kept our D on so long. If it’s not working then bobo has to change it up some. When we hit that pass on our final drive to Lovett, that was a game changing call, and Bobos best call of the game.

Bobo called a number of those plays and Beck checked down. Some of them were there. Not sure if Beck was told to not press it to keep turnovers off the table. He did a few times, but not many. I think the overall offensive strategy was Smart’s not Bobo.

I remember 3 passes downfield (20+ yards), two were completions. That quick pass to the outside never worked, but they kept trying them?

84 whiffed on a block that would have sprung one open for Lovett. ETN got a first down on one after juking a dude. 8 got one on a quick back shoulder. Most of the shorter passes gained at least 3 or 4 which is an extension of running game.

I was just dumfounded that we couldn't put the game away.
The botched exchange between Beck and Etienne with maybe 5 mins left in the game was the first and only time where I actually worried that we might lose.

That was all Carson, he was looking at ETN before he had the ball in his hands from center..
Georgia got beat on both lines of scrimmage all night! Nobody, NOBODY on defense wanted to tackle! Offensively, line of scrimmage got torched( already mentioned), receivers couldn’t block.
Carson looked very shook from the beginning.. Rumored that Carson checked out of a ton of play calls? Spitballing here, I think that shoulder/ rib injury has been there either from early in the game or previous to this game causing him to not want to get hit and audibling into other plays? He made the comment after the game that he’s fine, but also stated multiple times “We need this week of to heal!” It’s only week 3, LOOOONG way to go!

We don’t have the blocking tight ends we’re used to having.
This is why we had so much trouble running the ball. Kentucky defense controlled the edge so outside runs were stopped in the backfield. This left their DL and LBs free to clog the middle. Etienne still managed to jink and jive for a few good runs.

Looked like the same fumble against Bama

I literally have nothing positive to take away.
As a team if we don't improve....2-3 losses incoming

I don't remember trying any outside runs. Will be interesting to see Brooks breakdown
Minus the late toss sweep that was successful

Dude, they scored 12 points, 2 on 50+ FGs. We made plenty of good tackles. Offense not getting first downs put a lot of pressure on the defense and that stuff will happen when they are on the field a lot. There were missed tackles and they could have played better, but they bailed out the offense.

I honestly credit the motivation of those two backs, I doubt they keep that up, but good for them. I would love to have either of them as we don't have that right now in the backfield.

I want to see the snap totals and want to know why Arian Smith played more snaps than Dillon Bell and where the hell was Dillon Bell last night.
Is he hurt? He went out against Tennessee Tech, but we were told that he was just cramping up and it wasn't an injury.

You are correct, it’s not the wrap up tackling that I was used to seeing from this team, just my opinion . Not downing them and calling them horrible. If they would have controlled the line of scrimmage there would have been less 50+ yard field goals, and more 3 and outs. Multiple times on the edges over pursuing, and if had a dollar for every time Chambliss lost contain on the edge, I’d be a rich man!
Defense definitely won this game, but they have Bama in 2 weeks and if they play like that it will be an arse kicking! Just like Kirby said” this team showed resiliency and grew up tonight!”.. I agree!
Kirby is definitely licking his chops for the next 2 weeks of practice!

This was mystifying. We were getting to the ball carriers behind the line but the attackers looks like they expected UK to see the Power G on our helmets and fall down.

Here are some percentages of Kentucky's returning defense from 2023. I only look at defensive stats recorded by defensive players. Defensive stats by offensive position players, which are generally special teams, turnovers, etc, are not included in the returning comparison.
Position-------Tkls----Sacks----TFLs----Ints----PBUs
DL--------------95%----100%----97%-----NA-----100%
ILB/OLB-------58%----58%------62%----67%----90%
DB--------------81%----100%-----87%---100%---68%
ALL POS------76%----82%------82%----91%-----77%
Kentucky returned 16 of their top 19 tacklers from 2023. At ILB they added Jamon Dumas - Johnson, who had 120 career tackles at UGA and is obviously very familiar with Georgia's offensive and defensive playbooks. They also added Brock Vandagriff, who is very familiar with Georgia's offensive and defensive playbooks and knows how our offense is coached to respond to any given defensive alignment. Both of those players understand Georgia's strengths and weakness. I'd guess that the UK staff has been picking JDJ and Vandagriff's brains all off-season about everything Georgia does. Stoops wanted this game.
These are the highest returning defensive percentages, by far, of any 2024 UGA opponent I've looked at, including Clemson, Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Auburn. They're also considerably higher than UGA's returning defensive percentages. Also, every Kentucky defensive player who recorded a stat in Kentucky's first two games of 2024 was available on Saturday. They were missing none of their defensive statistical contributors from this season on Saturday.
Despite the score discrepancy, UK held South Carolina to fewer total yds than they did Georgia. I don't think they spent nearly as much preparing for USCe as they did for UGA, because they had so much more UGA info to use during the offseason.
None of that means that UGA's offense played well, or that Kentucky's defense is the best we'll face, but it does mean that we faced a defense that was highly experienced and prepared specifically for UGA's offense. They had home field advantage, at night, good defensive coaching and a very experienced lineup. They also appeared, to my eyes, to have an officiating advantage. I think the SEC has a serious officiating problem and it's not all due to incompetence.

Seeing recent statistics come out and also rewatching the game.
We had 3 Dline-man each play over at least +50 snaps, they were gassed. We need Brinson mykel and Hall back on the line.
TID is going to be a star.
I don't know how you're able to play mykel and jalon on the field but jalon needs to be on the field.
The Ben Yurisek Era started and it ended. He can't run block at all
Carson didn't have the best game but his pocket presence is ELITE. I do wish we had a QB that was more useful with his legs because his forced qb runs were a positive for us.
As for play calling, it was arse. We have to run the Ball better it will make our whole offense much smoother.
Rant over

No more Bowers and McConkey means no more offensive confidence. Now Beck is feeling the pressure and he can't come close to hitting a deep ball. The Stanford tight end can't catch or block. Trevor Etienne might be our third best RB. Too many players are hurt to threaten Alabama. We could end the year with four SEC losses.

I’m convinced Kirby loves these ugly arse games too fwiw.

Kirby has missed on too many key 5 star players. We will need: a dual-threat QB to replace Beck, better receivers with at least one at McConkie's level, a RB with break-away speed, TE's who can get open and block, a true nose-tackle who can stuff the middle and put pressure on the opposing QB up the middle, and better LB's who can ensure outside containment.
You should call Kirby and offer to be the recruiting coordinator. And you're the same person who didn't think Stetson was any good so that tells me all I need to know.
