I agree man...last year, they struggled against lesser teams (Kent St and Mizzou) and that team ended up winning a natty. I predicted months ago that SC was going to be the toughest regular season team we would play because Rattler was vastly underrated. I think my prediction was accurate.
But the D rose to the occasion and our running game, despite the injuries is picking up steam with Edwards back in the lineup. I think we're gonna be fine. But I'm always the eternal optimist when it comes to the Dawgs.

I really don't know much about Carolina's defense, they're kind meh, but their offense, imo, is a bad offense with a very solid QB. Rattler was a 5-star coming out of high school. Sure, he hasn't lived up to the hype really and was replaced by Williams at Oklahoma (the most talented QB in the country and reigning Heisman) but he's for sure had his moments throughout his up and down career.

Rattler had a good first half, but the defense shut him down in the 2nd half. I think the defense played not great but very good for sure against, imo, an underrated solid QB...

No mattter what one thinks of Rattler, he might end up being the best QB we see in the regular season, especially in light of Milton sucking at UT.

Defense adjusted to the short pass plays they were running and spied him and let the line go after him. The line also did a great job against the run and made them more predictable. Huge props to the defensive coaches.

Good point. There was great shut down tackling to their WRs behind the LOS in the second half.

Good thing too because I was seriously concerned for the defense in a way I haven't been in years when they gave up that third a long, missing tackles on the first SC TD. So it's great to see the adjustments work for sure.

I'll take a ugly win over a pretty loss ANY DAY of the week, got some issues to get cleared up (FG kicking, injuries, explosive plays on offense).

Still number 1 in the country, got a real tune up opportunity this week, then it's into the real grind of the SEC..

Kirby has spoken about that in the past. Those passes are essentially an extension of the run game meant to wear out the defense. Looks like it worked with SC's defense looking gassed in the 2nd half.

I don't have any problem with the plays at all.

Re-watched. The only real differences between the first and the second were tempo and blocking.

Beck drove the ball down the field a bit more, but he was still just taking what they gave him while being more decisive.

....

The defense, however, really was more aggressive in the second.

They're good enough to surprise teams. They did it a couple times last season.

Plus Rattler is a good QB who had a hot hand, and was feeling it in the first half. Remember what he did against Clemson and TN last year?

On offense we just play more conservative than most teams, but it also helps avoid turnovers.

They are and are effective. We do need to find some more plays downfield to make the defense back up. Also, trying to drive the ball 5 yards at a time puts a lot of pressure on to execute perfectly. Any penalty or negative play is a drive stopper, and more plays means more opportunities for mistakes. Scoring on a 13 play drive is hard to do.
