No way was Shockley better than Greene. Remember the LSU game where Richt started out withem splitting series? Shockley either went backwards or turned the ball over on his possesions. If I remember correctly, Greene hurt his thumb late and left the game, but had to come back to salt the game away cause Shockley couldn't.

You combined like 3 different games into one post.

The GT game says enough IMO about why Greene started. Shockley did great in 2005 and one of my favorite dawgs ever but the better QB played. Hell, I didn't even like the dual QB system we used and I am glad Richt hasn't done it really since

Mason doesn't have to be Murray. In fact, if he tries to do that we could be in trouble. Next year's about the running game and playmakers on the outside making plays in space. Mason needs to protect the ball first of all, and then complete enough passes downfield to keep the defense honest when those opportunities present themselves

I absolutely believe this. If Mason just plays smart within his capability then we should be fine if we can just have a decent running game. Hopefully Gurleysaurus will be ready and we can get some good line blocking.

Which 3? I know Shock turned it over/went backwards on his 1st 2-3 drives against LSU. Maybe the Green injury was another game. Tech maybe?

We didn't rotate them in the 03 LSU game like we had done in the past, Shock came in because Greene got dinged up when we were on our own goalline. No way Richt would have put Shock in at that moment in that situation.

There were other games (like UF 02) where Shock came in the regularly scheduled rotation and fricked up.

The 04 Tech game is the one Greene was hurt almsot the whole game, shokely was atrocious, and Greene with a hurt thumb was forced back in the game to seal the win.

Ok. My point is still the same. Greene>Shockley that entire season.

Well yeah I'm not disagreeing, Greene was better/more proven than Shock his whole career. People just use hindsight as fact and take Shock's outstanding 05 season and want to use that as irrefutable proof that he would have been better than DG from 02-04.

I agree, Richt shouldn't give or pretty much hand the starting qb to Mason just b/c he has waited. That really should have nothing to do with it. What about the other positions? R McGowen, let him start at wr at teh beginning of the yr b/c he's a SR and has waited for it?? No, you put the best players on the field.

Mason to me, does not look like the qb to take us to the promised land next year. Unless we just pull a Bama or LSU and run the ball down everyones throat. Then yes, he will be servicable then, but will our offense do that? Will bobo's ego get in the way? Time will tell, but I doubt use our RBs the way they should. If our OL can block better and play more complete games, then we might could pull it off.

Mason looks great. Remember, y'all, the bowl game was played in pretty shitty conditions with the rain and all.

Besides, with the amount of talent around him, he just needs to be decent.

But I think he'll be better than decent.

I think the real concern is how well the OL plays.

Just hoping Brice causes somewhat of controversy by spring game. I just like him out of every other QB. He throws an ugly spiral but it gets to where it's suppose to go.

It will be really low and scumbagish if Richt were to pick someone else over Hutson Mason while he has been waiting to play for so many years. It will create bad chemistry. Mason deserves to play every game next year. His dream is to play as a QB for UGA and instead of transferring he chose to stick with UGA. Mason is more qualified to play than either Faton Bauta or Brice Ramsey since he had the most exposure by being with the team the longest. I will lose all respect for Richt he he picks someone else.

if HM hands the ball off and keeps drives going with decent decisions, he'll do what is required of him..I doubt if richt and Bobo expect him to be a Mathew Stafford or Aaron Murray...because he's not..

guys might remember even Cox lit the scoreboard up with a bum shoulder and a small dick..

This has to be one of the dumbest things I have read on this site. Being qualified doesn't mean better. And don't start giving us any horse shite about the GT game and say that he had a magical comeback - it's GT for pete's sake..even you could have thrown for 300 that game. He has been in the system for four years, played in a few, and spent a great deal of time with the first teamers. Still doesn't make him better - go back and watch the last two games. He can't make reads to save his life and looked more than lost when having to make decisions. As I have said before, he is nothing more than a backup QB at best. Deal with it.

You are dead on. Seniority has nothing to do with it. Paying dues has nothing to do with it. Put the best players on the field. Nothing else matters.
