I'll add in the smooth vocal tones of one Jay Clifford...

You're all I want for Christmas - Jump Little Children

I'm also partial to multiple versions of Joni Mitchell's "River"... I mean outside of the reference to Christmas at the beginning... it's not really a Christmas song which is an interesting topic in and of itself here.

River - James Taylor
River - Sarah McLachlan

I love James Taylor on guitar... always have. Vocals maybe not great... wish he'd recorded it in his prime instead of in 2006 ad 62.

Sarah McLachlan version is just haunting vocals IMO...

Christians have completely taken over Christmas. If the Romans or the Celts or Vikings had any power or influence then you might have an argument. But they don't. We've taken Saturnian or whatever and have made it ours. Everything about Christmas in the western world is about a holy day and Christs birth. We won it through 2,000 years of work.

If you don't like it - go dance around Stonehenge on the solstice with the other heathens. Don't buy a tree...or presents...or give your kids gifts. Be a proud atheist and disown the whole holiday if that's your thing - but you can't have it both ways.

We own Christmas - it's ours.

The Pogues

Any Christmas song that features lyrics of "old slut on junk" and "cheap, lousy ****" and "Happy Christmas, your arse, I pray God it's our last" definitely helps make the Yuletide bright.

Der Bingle
From the Irish side of the family, this one was always popular.
