I love the running threat that Stetson brings to the game. He has extended several drives with his legs on 3rd down and also has been running keepers that appear to be on purpose.

Two words ... Brock Bowers. Huge match up problem for other teams.

Brooks Austin did a review of the Arkansas game. 2 of the big third down scrambles from Stetson had wide open targets on deep shots. He either got off his read too early, had defenders in his line of sight, or wanted to tuck and run.

Correct. That is the "tuck it and run".
Just some perspective on how the players differ and how some stats are different.

If you have an easy 3rd down conversion by trotting it over the line, or you have a lower% long ball open, what would you coach your QB to do? Assuming you weren't trying to mount some kind of comeback win.
Edit- I try to watch all of his free content. Was the tihng you watched free? And can you link?

He had to run 10+ yards on each attempt.
If Im a coach and trying to make him be the best QB, im going to push him to let it rip. A great play design that is executed by the line and wide receivers... why wouldnt i want the QB to complete the play.
If im a coach and im worried that my QB isnt accurate downfield, struggles to see over defenders, or may be late getting through his reads thus throwing late, i want him to take the easy yards.
It depends upon the QB, honestly, what i want if im a coach.

It is the Arkansas offensive review. I dont know what is free and what isnt (it is all on patreon/youtube). If you can see it in Brooks' video history after the arkansas game, then it may be free if you arent a subscriber.

For Porter et al.-
So Stet leads the SEC in YPA vs P5 with 10.1
#2 is Hooker at 9.8
#3 is Corrall 9.3
#4 is Young at 8.8
I wonder if Porter will come back to address these stats.

Considering I don't bitch out on conversations like you did with our discussion on Grantham I'll address these more at some point later in the day or tomorrow.

Shut up Jefferson, Bennett can’t beat Top 25 teams. The Braintrust has told us this.

Is this a thread to cherry pick stats?

Wonder who the team prefers?

Kirby says the team is comfortable with either.
I believe him. We can win with both.

Where do you think the JT psychosis comes from?
It comes from having watched Stetson put the ball in danger consistently whenever we’ve found ourselves in a must-score situation.

To be fair to stetson, he has done much better the past 3 games.
It is a weird balancing act. No INTs. But there are a few playcalls that look open where he couldnt pull the trigger.

Yep, he's playing his tail off and doing a much better job of protecting the ball this year. I think he can win us a national championship, I just think JTD gives us a better chance at it. Here are some stats comparing JTD and Stet from Seth Emerson over at the Athletic who's probably the best beat writer for UGA football.
quote:
• Accuracy: Just one of Daniels’ 71 pass attempts this season has been an off-target incompletion, the best such rate (1.4 percent) at the FBS level, per Pro Football Focus. No other player has an off-target rate lower than 5 percent, the national average is 14 percent, and Bennett’s rate is 11.5 percent.
• Third downs: Daniels has converted 11-of-18 third-down passes (61.1 percent), the highest rate in the FBS. Bennett’s rate is 12.5 percent, which ranks 148th. (Though to be fair, he has run for a first down on several of those occasions.) But overall on third down, Daniels ranks eighth nationally in pass efficiency, while Bennett ranks 77th.
• Pocket poise: Daniels has averaged 1.97 seconds in the pocket before his pass, the fastest rate in the FBS level. Bennett has averaged 2.53 seconds, which is 74th in FBS.
quote:
“Daniels is the efficient distributor, especially on the money down, while Bennett has made more flashy plays, but not quite as consistent.”
