You are choosing to not give him the benefit of doubt. There is no reason to assume he wouldn’t do well throwing based upon everything we have seen.

That makes no sense. Your take only makes sense if he had not done well, but Since he has done well with what we have seen, the safer assumption is that he would continue to do well with more opportunities.

Not sure why you are so afraid to give him the benefit of doubt, but it’s not a good look.

He hasn't been given the opportunity. How can he throw the football when you're put in for one wildcat play at a time and then immediately taken out. It's humiliating and disrespectful to the kid the way they're using him. The ironic thing is Kirby has gotten mad when people thought of Fields as a wildcat QB, but that is exactly how Smart is using.

Truth hurts, I will be proven correct. You'll see.

What substantive evidence do you have that supports this claim? From how he has played this year...

It's why Dabo is starting a freshman.

What does Clemson's QB situation have to do with UGA's? Kelly Bryant left the damn team. Of course Dabo is playing Lawrence!

Kelly left because Dabo chose to start Lawrence. Dabo also made a similar call in 2014.

Spring game:

quote:

Fromm’s counterpart, the highly touted Justin Fields, had a very good day. The No. 1-rated dual-threat quarterback last year looked the part on Saturday. He was 18-of-33 passing for 207 yards and a touchdown and slipped out of the pocket on several nice runs, the best a 22-yard scamper. He threw an interception, too, but his offense generally seemed to move better. Not coincidentally, his team won.

Fields is 18-of-25 passing for 200 yards with 2 touchdowns and no interceptions, and he has carried the ball 13 times for 115 yards, an average of 8.8 yards per attempt.

So there is some data to support Justin.

They split time every game but one when they were both on the team. Kelly started every game but one as well.

Kelly transferred after Lawrence was publicly named the starter. It's very well documented.

Again, what does that have to do with the QB situation in Athens?

Clemson is better off long term by going with a qb with a higher ceiling.

Nothing. It’s potentially similar if Fromm continues to struggle.

you're either being dense or disingenuous.

Look at ND, they changed to Book and their offense took off. Happens all the time. This is nothing new, if you aren't producing, next man up.

The real question is why Fromm, with what, 20+ games of experience under his belt, seems to not have progressed.

I think most of the answer is that Chubb and Michel were NFL-level running backs and our offense could be oriented around them. That took considerable pressure off Fromm, who mostly had to throw passes to keep defenses honest. Even throwing to those two out of the backfield was a threat.

We had two seniors who happened to be NFL picks. Now our tailbacks are good but no one is at that level except possibly Swift, who is a sophomore and has also been limited most of the year. So Fromm is having to play a much bigger role - and frankly he ought to be able to do so with the stable of wide receivers we have. We also have a very good albeit young offensive line, so the pieces are there for us to be a balanced offense.

Yet, Fromm hasn't thus far shown the progress. His stats were inflated against weak opponents until we played LSU. I hope he hasn't reached a ceiling. Chaney called an awful game but that said, Fromm frequently failed to execute - overthows, passes behind receivers, throws into tight coverage, holding the ball too long....
