Just repeating what Saban said and was somewhat surprised he was giving away some of his strategies.
I'll try to find the link.

I doubt he would give away any strategies. However, there is a reason...

Got it.. may just be choice of words. Knowing our tendencies out of formations and progressions is part of the game. The offense needs to adapt and keep them honest. We didn’t on that play.

Yea, but he threw that ball at half speed which made it easy for that pick to happen because he thought it would be wide open. JT probably darts it in there and the slot WR takes it for a TD. What you don't get is that Stetson has a low ceiling compared to JT. Not to say JT wins that game for us, but you have to try the guy who is the NFL talent in those situations. FYI - I like Stetson too.

How Bama beat UGA
quote:
Saban elaborated more.
“I think that you try to change the picture as much as you can, and make the quarterback try to make decisions after he gets the ball in his hand,” Saban said.
“Pass rush always helps you. If you get a good pass rush. We affected him in the pocket. He scrambled some, which is -- you hate, but you’re also affecting a guy when you do that because you’re not throwing the ball on time.”

Pretty much SOP really. Change the coverage from pre snap. Not really earth shattering or an indictment on anyone. How they did it and their execution was good though.

Based on what? Certainly not anything he's shown on the field this year.
Likely Alternate Scenario: JT throws the same pass and it's also picked off.
Equally likely outcome.

Is that supposed to be impressive on 48 throws? Because it isn’t

I’ve watched it several times. He really should of thrown two pick sixes. He played an absolutely terrible game. If he really our best option?

What do you think happened on the pick 6 play? Can you break it down for us?

It's more impressive than the 34 points given up by our defense. Why do you think he had to throw it 48 times? Stetson only gave up 7 points.

The defense gave up 10 points in the second half and forced 3 straight punts where we came away with nothing.
Did the defense play great? No. But why is the burden of performance on them every year? Why don't we ever expect our offense to win us one every once and a while?

Because Kirby builds the team to be stronger on defense than on offense. It frustrates the hell out of me but that's the way Kirby wants it.

Maybe as a defense guy his entire career from player to DC, he should turn the offense completely over to his OC and stay out of it...including quarterbacks.

In large part due to those 3 straight drives that went INT, DOWNS, PICK 6.

We had abandoned the running game before that.

The run pass ratio drastically changed after that pick 6.
