the only time they ever leave home is for one of the 20 florida-based bowl games the Big Ten teams play in every year.

i was born in kansas, my parents grew up in minnesota and wisconsin and my grandparents/all cousins still live there, and i currently live in ohio.

i grew up and lived in georgia from age 7-22. this thread delivers.

my perspective is that both sides don't know shite about each other

Yea, just like rednecks. They're everywhere. My oldest son married a girl from Indiana, and he went up there to visit her family a few years back...He told me that the South had nothing on the rednecks he saw in Southern Indiana. He swore that if not for their accents, he would have thought he was in the Florida panhandle.

And don't even get me started on what he told me about the racism he saw up there, either. He said it was 10 times worse than anything he had seen in South Georgia.

Not that Kansas is a super relevant state, but most of my friends in Athens/Atlanta would openly admit they couldn't point it out on a map

How many would think Chicago is in Indiana?

Probably as many that think East St. Louis is in Missouri.
Met a girl my soph year that came from a suburb of Detroit, Michigan. She thought when she arrived in Athens the streets would be dirt roads and we would all be barefoot and in overalls. True story.

Back in 1933 when you were a soph, that probably wasn't far from the truth in many small towns.

Gary is basically a twin City to Chicago, the skyway is all that separates it. Notre Dame is basically where rich Catholic Chicago kids go and it's 2 hours or so from Midway.

Hell, I like Indiana, racing , whiskey, and St Elmo's....Looking forward to NC game there.

The quality of women I’m dating is ducking warped.

In Huntsville, the Jones family (descendants of early settlers) still operate a working cattle ranch within the city limits and across the road from a major strip shopping center. I always take visitors by there. In summer there is the slight smell of manure in the air.
