I thought the defense looked better tonight than it did all of last year

We beat Vandy on the road and covered the spread to start the season.

And your first instinct is to attack Georgia fans.

Frick. You.

Defense played great - Tackled well especially in space. Created a lot of pressure and generally didn't make many mistakes. Was a good warm up SEC opponent to start the year.

Vandy might be 3rd best team in east as well. They aren’t awful compared to the rest of the shite stains in this conference btw.

Defense looked better than offense if you take the whole game into consideration.

But...when you jump up 21 puts everyone goes into neutral.

Lecounte is responsible for 114 of those. Yes it must be fixed, some really really stupid penalties today. No doubt about that.

Meh I was more disappointed in the offense because I expected more consistency but didn’t see anything I would be too worried about with the defense.

Sadly, won’t know where we truly are until ND comes to town.

Tonight was basically a walkthrough for improvement

Yes, followed by two weeks of practices and scrimmages against Murray State and Arkansas State.

We'll know what we have when Notre Dame comes to town. Won't be any excuses for timing problems, communication breakdowns, or anything else by that point.

I think we kept the playbook pretty closed on Offense. I mean herein ain’t our number 1 guy and it looked he got most of the carries. Zeus looks like a tall Nick Chubb when he’s running. Hope he stays healthy he’s going to murder some people. Other standouts were Tyler Simmons playing every direction and has put on a lot of size. D-rob looked great, Cook also looked real good and of course swift but obviously Kirby is saving him or he’s a little banged up. That o-line was tearing open holes to start the game but as it went on we were struggling with short yardage situations. All in all I am not worried about this offense.
Defense allowed 2 Fgs.... and got pressure on the qb all night. Lots of tackles for loss but I would like to see more of this havoc that was recently mentioned.

Penalties is what kept the defense on the field longer than it should have. Otherwise they played great

This game was good for us. Not a pushover opponent to start. We looked decent but it showed us areas to work on. Murray St and Ark St are gonna be where we hone some things to get ready for ND.

I'm not upset about a lot from yesterday other than penalties.

Campbell and Crowder still are borderline liabilities, imho.

Don't agree on Campbell but thought Crowder had a very bad game. I'll be surprised if he's starting for us by mid-season. Granted Vandy's RB is no slouch but Crowder lost almost every one on one that I saw in the form of bad angles and missed tackles.

Overall thought our D played great - this is a unit that will be much better by the end of the year. I'm a little more worried about our offensive consistency but could be that we just took our foot off the gas from a play calling perspective.

I thought the defense looked very well conditioned. I didn’t see much hands on the hips and kneeling. That’s a positive sign. I do also know it wasn’t a 12:00 game and 97 degrees but nonetheless, they were ready to play. I still don’t know enough about our CB’s until we play a team that has a QB and WR’s to stretch the field. The D-Line looked pedestrian in the 1st half but got it straightened out in the 2nd half forcing 4 straight 3 and outs. Jordan Davis, Wyatt, and Walker all played great in the 2nd half. Monty Rice played a helluva game. Nolan Smith looked great. Azeez looked like a freak when he was able to shed blocks. Overall, you can CLEARLY see this defense has the talent to be the best we’ve ever had. It’s just going to take a few games. When ND rolls into Athens under the lights, kick back and enjoy the fun.

"Vanderbilt has a functioning offense, for one thing. In fact, that sells the ‘Dores a little short, in that they have All-SEC talent at wide receiver, tight end and running back. And while I wouldn’t characterize their offensive line as elite, it is at least competent. If either of the two quarterbacks being groomed as Shurmur’s successor is even somewhat capable, Vandy’s offense will present something of a challenge to Georgia’s defense." - Senator Blutarksy

If this is at all accurate, then I'd say Georgia performed pretty well.
