Pretend there's some popular college football radio show out in Texas, and the show hosts want to have an expert guest on from Georgia to preview the upcoming UT UGA game. They want someone who talks UGA sports all day everyday on a popular and entertaining podcast similar to what they do for UT. Who do they call?

I cant help with the "similar to what they do for UT". If i havent experienced it, i cant comment.

My first call would be Jim Donnan. Second, Seth Emerson.
Depending upon what your goals of the bit are, there are a ton of different directions that you can go. The WSLS guys understand media. Tony would be a great guest.

If you want X/O personnel, Brooks is an unbiased take. Aaron Murray is more intelligent and slightly biased (although he isnt as connected, imo.)

If you want clickbait comments, Mike Griffin. The guy is extremely well connected. Coaches, players, and media seem to like him. He comes out of left field with his takes (no homerism, but probably not the most accurate, imo).

Tony Barhardt, Josh Pate, and Chuck Oliver could handle a bit even if they arent on the UGA beat.

Jake Rowe, Dean Legge, brandon adams are milk toast. Not necessarily inaccurate. But the beat information that they have is equal across all beat guys. All likeable. But their delivery doesnt elevate the content.

I’ll have to add it to my lineup. I generally just need enough to listen to on my daily commute, during yard work, and lunch/walks.

GTP tends to do enough in terms of providing a good reading digest of both UGA and non-UGA specific content that I don’t need to check in on a million websites to re-read the same story from different (or more often the same) point of view.

And then of course there’s the SECr and TND for the breaking news element (swore off Twitter and other social media some time ago and have been better for it)

Dear Dairy,

During the football season, 680 The Fan is actually good.

Buck and Kincaid (the yankee) is now Buck and Hut(son) Mason. Totally UGA centric without the yankee.

Chuck and Chernoff, during the season, is also UGA centric.

Every other program on 680 is garbage.

And even the above-mentioned good shows aren't that good outside of the season. But then again, I'm not big into the other sports so that could be why I think they suck. They could be doing a good job, it's just that I don't care.

Thanks for listening,

Kincaid

It's Kincade. And he is a good man. Yankee or not. Hated to see him leave.

And Buck now has own show that is an hour long. Hut moved to the morning show w/Brandon Leak, Brian Finneran, Joe Hamilton of Tech, and John Micheals.

Joe Hamilton is a garbage broadcaster. He's not talented.

I really like Brandon Adams. His support staff, not so much. I really like when he brings on Jon Stinchcomb and Terrence Edwards.

960 The Ref local morning and afternoon shows are good, the national shows in between are garbage.

I used to love to listen to that station when I was in Athens at UGA, but you can download the 960 The Ref app on your phone and listen anywhere.

This time of year I usually have my radio in my truck stuck on espn U on xm. But this year I haven’t listened much yet. Everything on there is terrible right now. Probly swap over once the season starts up. I’ve been listening to Steve Rinellas meat eater podcast. All hunting and fishing and I’ve got dove opener on the brain.

Nashvilles 104.5 used to be great but the canned most of the cast for whatever reason.

They spent time on college football, nfl, hockey and were always talking. Good format as they didnt just talk about TNs college sports.

And the DawgCast is trying to be more reliable with their shows coming out weekly but Jamie is such a homer he’s scared to talk the truth about the players or staff.

I don’t get this take.

I’m as much of a homer as anyone and from what I’ve seen true fans will call out stupid shite more quickly than some rando with no Dawg in the fight. Hell, it was the objective journalists and non UGA fans that couldn’t understand why we wanted to get rid of a coach that averaged “10 wins a year”. It was only the homers that understood why this needed to be done.

I want to hear from commentators that are as invested as I am.

I like the Dawgcast. Derek plays the voice of the fans and is as pissed off as I am after a loss.

Not the same since Brame left and the dude with Johnston in the morning, while better than Franco, is still a cringe and cliche filled robot

And not to beat up on Atlanta but if you take away that shithole, this is still a traditional Southern state.

Atlanta metro is 6.5 million of a total population of 10.5 million.

That's like saying if you take away New York City, the state of New York is a lot different. Kind of irrelevant.

Also...is there really that much to say right now, a month before kickoff? It's mostly people regurgitating the same stories and spinning their predictions over and over...

I moved from the Metro a few years back but I noticed the other day that Kincaid was no longer at 680. His condescending attitude was too much for me. How someone from Philadelphia could look down on anyone is a mystery to me.

During football season I like channel 84 on Sirius and I have the WJOX app on my smart phone. I know they are in Alabama but they do talk about SEC football.

Anything out there right now is just a reshuffling of the same old information.

I have listened to several national programs concerning this SEC realignment. A lot of wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth by the big tenners.

Not irrelevant at all. Lets use your numbers and assume their correct..

That means that if you removed metro atlanta, the rest of Georgia has pretty much the same population as all of Alabama or all of Louisiana, or South Carolina etc or etc. All of which have better cfb coverage than we do. Hell, we are literally on an lsu board right now

Non-ATL Georgia is a giant market that lives and breathes college football as the primary sport of interest. Im not encouraging to ever leave the metro area, please, but if you did and you got off the interstate more than a mile its wall to wall UGA flags, car tags, mailboxes, etc. We are the heart and soul of Georgia football country. And we deserve better college football coverage.

I agree with you. Sounds like a business opportunity for you.
