Am I late to the party on this?

I just read that if UGA doesn’t renew the Jacksonville cocktail party contract when it expires in 202?, which would wisely bring the GA-FL game to Athens for home games, that UF would still request that they play the game in Jacksonville when it’s a home game for Florida

So the game would be played in Athens and Jax every other year in rotation going forward

This is f’n perfect. How is this not a done deal? The Jax partisans that don’t care that their October beach vacation hurts the program/recruiting get to keep their vacation. And Kirby gets to lay another layer to the foundation of his empire. Everybody wins

I heard the part about UGA not renewing possibly but not about Florida playing their home games in Jacksonville. That would be a cool arrangement if it happened.

frick that. Jacksonville is tradition and the WLOCP is one of the best environments in college football.

Get rid of it and you get rid of 90% of what makes Georgia-Florida special.

I repeat: frick that.

The Iron Bowl between Auburn and Alabama lost much of its luster when Pat Dye broke the B'ham connection. I went to some of the games when I was younger and the week long celebration in Birmingham was equal to a WLOCP week. Maybe even bigger. It's still big in Alabama but nowhere near what it used to be.
I'm afraid that's what the WLOCP will be like a few years after a change like you want.

Bama v Auburn is a huge game still and there are a lot more people in the stands now than when it was in that shite stadium in BHM

If uf keeps jax during their home games (why would they?) then they sure as hell won't be selling 50% tickets to uga.

Also, with traditions dropping left and right, why drop this one? So Kirby has an extra recruiting day every other year? I think that's ridiculous.

They can't just make Georgia play in Jacksonville. UGA would have to be a party to the agreement, and I doubt they'd agree to play in an nfl stadium without equal access to tickets

To me, GA-FL in jacksonville has always broken from the "tradition" of college football. To me, college football tradition means playing on campus with all of the greatness that comes with that instead of playing in giant sterile corporate nfl stadiums. So, moving it back to campus would actually be going back to a tradition, imo.

As for scoffing at the idea of an extra weekend of recruiting every other year, pretend you are a high profile recruit this year. And you have a limited number of official visits you are allowed to take...

WHich of these home games in Athens are you dying to get to over all the other invites you have from across the country? Samford? Kent State? shite arse AUburn? Vanderbilt? Tennessee? Georgia fricking Tech?

The Tennessee game is the only home game that will have any hype whatsoever. But a GA-FL game in Athens would be the game of the week and would be a massive recruiting draw

The WLOCP has been played in Jacksonville every year except two since 1933. This is the tradition. And the Jags didn’t show up until the late 90’s. For somebody that jumps up and down about tradition, this makes zero sense to move it.

The fact the recruits wouldn't give a shite about any of those games at UGA is exactly why it doesn't matter. The recruits already know. Kirby doesn't have to prove it.

Florida fans are starting to complain now. They don’t like missing out on bringing recruits to the game.

You probably dont realize that Florida had a 2-6 conference record last season.

The game is special because Jacksonville is special. Why are you so angry about facts?

That's like. Your opinion, man.

They have to earn that. All signs point to their impotence for 2022.

The people who want it moved are the people who would wonder why it becomes a nooner on ESPN2.

Probably more like ABC at noon to combat Fox’s big noon phenomenal success.

The fox folks have already announced Texas Bama in week 2 will be a nooner. Which is fricking awesome
