Every year we have some very unfortunate surprises in the portal (like most teams). The only one I can remember really hurting us was Bear Alexander. We could have used him this year.

We have been a net beneficiary of the portal, as Tykee, Derion Kendrick, RaRa and Lovett have all been good players for us.

Bear? That cancer?

Bear is still a talented player. That’s not up for debate. But if the rumors last year were true, then obviously him transferring was a very good thing.

If by cancer you mean DL that invades the LOS and infects the backfield, then yes I agree. We didn't really have one of those this year.

No, he was a cancer to the locker room, or have you forgotten? He did a great job at USC, eh?

I did not follow him at USC, but he was wrecking OLs in the last few games at UGA.

He was also asking for treatment not given to Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean, or Jalen Carter.

He needed to feel like the best asset on a team full of assets.

So he went to a team devoid of assets and got the treatment he wanted.

He said at UGA he was one of the team members, but at USC he stood out from the rest. He craved attention and he still took off plays at USC.

He is a spitting image of Roquan Smith coming out of high school. Around the same height and weight and rated about the same. Bowles has put on weight and should be hard to keep off the field next year.

There's a real chance that there will never be another Roquan Smith at Georgia (see Nakobe Dean). Some may be able to run like him and track like him, but nobody will be able to match Roquan's strength. Roquan was just Country Strong and had the strongest hands and didn't let go once he got hands on somebody.

I will give him benefit of the doubt.

He didn't take plays off.
He wasn't in shape and the larger workload made him less productive.

He wanted to dictate his reps at UGA.
Our staff knew his limitations. We knew his body better than him.

And that is reasons 1-99 as to why Bear can specifically and personally frick ALL THE WAY off.

So… back to the portal. Any other players we are worried about? I see we might be in it for Etienne kid. We know about the Vandy WR. Anyone else?

Am I the only one that doesn't get the hype around Etienne? Every time I have watched him hasn't looked super flashy. Not s good blocker apparently. Would take him I guess, but the folks on other sites and Twitter who are making it out like he is this huge difference maker is weird

I tend to agree but it would be nice to have a back who is a significant pass receiver.
One of the things missing on 3rd and short issues vs Bama was a reliable check-down receiver.
I think if we had a good receiver out of the backfield, we wouldn't be relying on failed toss-sweep plays against talented defenses.

He played behind a very poor OL at Florida. Maybe he thrives with sufficient blockers?

He’s pretty good and can play well in space. Watch him against Mizzou. He was very impressive.

He was one of only 3 nfl-caliber players on their offense. Sure his numbers aren't great but he played on a team that didn't even make a bowl game. I would love to have Etienne at UGA. If not just for his individual ability, then so nobody else can have him to play against us.

He’s not his brother but I see him as maybe a poor man’s Deandre Swift. Short. Stocky. Strong. Shifty. Solid speed. If anyone can get him to block, it’s us. He’d be valuable I think. Certainly would have been this season.

So not one transfer coming to UGA? How is that possible?
