Closest games this year

26-22 @ Mizzou
16-6 @ Kentucky

Meanwhile two of their biggest wins were against top 15 teams

49-3 vs Oregon
50-30 LSU

Seems like this team only seems to hit that next gear when they’re going up against top teams. They “struggle” with the likes of Mizzou and Kentucky but skull drag teams like LSU, Tennessee, and Oregon. As long as they keep it up I won’t complain

I wouldn’t call it “struggle”. More like “disinterest”.

What’s to figured out. We game plan and play different against top completion. That whooping we put on SC looks different now too.

Those were pure road games at night, and Stetson did not play well in either. That is the explanation

Ebbs and flows. Taking everybody’s best shot. Turnovers. Penalties.

It doesn’t take much to turn a blowout into a close game.

It’s almost like this team has a switch they flip when it’s a big game, cuz they show up!

The mizzou game scared the shite out of me. They got up for us and had a really good defensive game plan.
It mattered too bc if we would’ve lost that we would be going cross country to play TCU in a few weeks instead of Ohio state in Atlanta.
The Kentucky game with that cold and wind. The game looks close on the scoreboard but it was never in doubt. Dawgs controlled that game from start to finish.

Yeah, Missouri was the only time it ever felt like the Dawgs weren't actually in control of what was happening for a while. They eventually brought it home, but it felt like the game plan got away from them.

Kentucky they followed the game plan perfectly, outside of not cashing in the touchdown down on the goal line and a couple of deep balls and PIs kept Kentucky closer than expected. But like you said, never in doubt.

The only thing that bothers me about those games are the slow starts. I realize we lost a lot of experience and leadership from last year's team, but I thought we were past playing down to the level of competition. I thought the whole point of the "process" was it's about us and our preparation regardless of the opponent.

the slow starts have come against inferior competition.

Oregon, SC, UT, LSu, etc...not slow at all.

We had a nasty habit of playing down to our competition. The '22 Dawgs absolutely have an extra gear they reach in big games.

I should have been more specific about the games I was referring to, Missouri, Kentucky, and GT.

Road games in different climates affect this team adversely. What’s so hard to figure?

I have hardly any recollection of the GT game. I know I watched the whole thing and I know they jumped on us at the beginning of the game. I had a fever and was on an assload of cough medicine and started drinking bourbon.

If we play our A game against OSU we win, and then if that happens and we play the winner of Michigan/TCU and we play our A game again we will be back to back National champions....

frick I want to be 15-0 and Champs again this year....

Stetson indoors. Take the cover. Probably the over.

Like others have said… Kirby and crew have a different gear. We look a lot like 2012 UGA/Bama (still think we were better). We’re a really good fricking team. We are subject to giving up points however Stetson won’t let his team lose.
